With the talk permeating the forums of guild housing coming out in Q1 of 2008 (yes, I realize there is RoK just two months away) it seems as though more slotted items should be considered.

Slotted items I personally would like to see:

Bookcases (how many times has this been discussed?)

Treasure chest (be nice if the Xegonite chest could actually be used to hold "Treasures" looted from various places)

Wardrobes/Mannequins (put your old gear in here to show off your progression)

Weapon racks (again, a place to put old gear and show off some of the things you really think are visualy cool in the game)

Slotted items should be a way to not only store things in your house but allow other people to share in them. When items are in storage you can see them, take them out and ooh and aaah, but cant share them until you equip them or link them. With a slotted item in your house, any visitor should be able to click the item (much like display cases) and see the items they contain. With the dressing room feature alone right now they would at least be able to see what the items look like.

I guess I am one of the packrats in the game where every alt is outfitted with rosewood 32 slot boxes simply to store things for my primary toons. The reason I mentioned guild housing is I have seen several threads mentioning "Trophy Rooms" where guild members could display the trophies and looted treasures from guild members. Would be nice to have slotted items ready for carpenters to make and place in the guild houses to facilitate this desire.

Just a thought....

I would have to go searching for the link but I could have sworn it said end of Q1 - 2008 (6 months out from the posting). More discussions being had in testing forums atm.

I hope its not a year from now before the art is even ready, thats a bit absurd for something that was advertised to be in the game at release.

Yeah I heard the same that it's something they are looking at. Like Kiana said, the art will be about a hear. And I think that will be when a dev as a chance to sit with one of the artists for 10 minutes and shoot out really fast want he wants and then head back to coding ;>I think Guild Houses won't be out till like 2009 personally.

The main thread is in Gameplay discussion. It states Q1 - 2008 but is unattached to a dev. Maybe we will get additional clarification at some point in time. To say it will be out in a year or two makes the statement worthless in and of itself. If a dev confirms that, it will be a dead topic for at least a year.

/shrug - makes you wonder why they even said anything about them if that was the intention. Oh well...

Well, not sure where they got that. Here's the Fan Faire report. I might still have the recording of Lyndro saying the art might take a year: Into the Future.

Well Calthine, I hope you are wrong and I hope it doesnt take them a year to get moving on this. A year from now it will be another expansion and another reason it put it off longer, etc.

Well, IMO getting the art done (it's being done by the SOGA studio, who did Neriak and the alternate models) is movement, lol. Since guild halls were part of the pre-launch hype....

Exactly, it was on the box you bought to start the game 3 years ago and still isnt in the game. I hope it isnt going to take another 1-2 years. I would rather them change game mechanics to allow us to use existing housing and add the new features into the game while we wait.

Let us purchase the NPCS - bankers, brokers, menders, fuel merchants, etc and put them into existing large houses. When purchasing a house you could designate it as GUILD or PERSONAL. Only those special NPC's could be placed in GUILD houses.

Couple that with a "CALL to GUILD HOUSE" spell so all guild members could immediately gate to the guild house and not worry about what city it was in and wholla. We wouldnt be waiting another year+ for artwork /RME

In the meantime, all the game mechanics would be ironed out and when these HUGE guild houses were ready we could move to them and take our nifty and already purchased NPCS and such with us and will basically just have bigger places to store things and separate out the rooms in a more organized manner.

Actually, at FF they very seriously asked for reward ideas for the guild houses, and now that I think about it I think Ke'la and Amana both have threads going for it.

I believe that is what they were intending to be the guild halls at that time. Unfortunately, there was no implemntation for a guild to actually own a house. I suspect if there was, you'd see quite a few guilds owning a 1 bed-room appartment. You'd also have people arguing that guilds should be able to sell stuff on the broker, and people whining that they don't get as many broker slots as their guild house would allow.

Anyways, with development actually asking for people to submit ideas for rooms that implies to me that they are still in the initial planning stages and that the SOGA team can still generate art for the project. Don't expect this anytime soon if that is the case. I'd guess at a bare minimum 1 year from fan fair, and to be honest probably longer than that if they are serious about taking ideas from the player generated threads. Maybe less if they were just generating hype by saying that.
