<p>My characters are on the Oasis server. </p><p>It's after 3:00am (on the US east coast) on September 1st and I still can't play. I haven't been able to since early Friday morning. I've cleaned the dirty dishes, watched some TV, taken a nap, and done little else except lurk here and poke around the house all day (and half the night). </p><p>I'll live.</p><p>I don't know what went wrong, or where, or how, but I can't do anything about it.</p><p>It occurred to me that, somewhere at this very moment, there's a group of people working hard, spending part of their Labor Day weekend (literally 'burning the midnight oil'<img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> fixing whatever's wrong.</p><p>I want to thank those folks - and Gnobrin and Kirstie for staying on top of the update posts.</p><p>Good night, SoE - you guys enjoy what's left of your holiday weekend and stay safe.</p><p>And thanks again.</p><p><img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /></p>
Are they even working on the Mistmoore server...all others servers were locked with in 15 minutes of other coming up. I have noticed that the last 2 servers on the server status page (Mistmoore and Oasis) are just down.

Yeah, the time posted is shown in Pacific time for most of us, if we haven't changed the timezone in our options. So the projected time for them to be up is around 5:30 am Eastern, 4:30 am Central. Bummer.
Psiloc
09-01-2007, 05:05 AM
Slightly off, but how do you change the time zone? I've never been able to find that option for this board.
Catwalkk
09-01-2007, 05:09 AM
Sorry 'bout that... most forums allow you to change the displayed time zone in your Profile. Apparently this one doesn't. I never tried to change mine cause I automatically assumed Pacific time and adjusted in my mind.
<p>And this issue all over a card game (even if SOE says it wasn't). Because everything was up and running fine this morning before the patch.......</p><p>Informational update!</p><ul><li>The present issue was caused due to a recent hotfix meant to assist in the issues of a very few players, hence the odd circumstances now.</li><li>The gremlins that caused this issue have nothing to do with Legends of Norrath.</li></ul><p>There's still no present ETA for the fix's completion. The team's working feverishly on getting the troubles ironed out. If I hear anything more, I'll update this post!</p><p>Until later,~Gnobrin!</p><p>Which makes me more annoyed sue to the fact I will probably never play the card game.</p>

Thank you for writing a nice, sane post! It's a refreshing change from all the screaming that's going on elsewhere. For once someone understands that when things go wrong -- and it's not like anyone wants anything to go wrong -- the people involved can't just automatically fix the problem with a snap of the fingers. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Server is up but login server is down. No issues on Splitpaw - something to do with a botched hotfix on US based servers and the Splitpaw login server being tied to RE server.ETA is 1200 BST

In short. If you read the thread that has now reached 106 pages, you'll see the problem. It will give you something to read while you wait for the servers to come back up. <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />
so basically only new players can login and we cant until RE is up?

Plausible deniability is a political doctrine originally developed in the United States of America in the 1950s and applied to operations by the then newly formed Central Intelligence Agency The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Plausible deniability involves the creation of power structures and chains of command loose and informal enough to be denied if necessary. The idea was that the CIA (and, later, other bodies) could be given controversial instructions by powerful figures -- up to and including the president himself -- but that the existence and true source of those instructions could be denied if necessary; if, for example, an operation went disastrously wrong and it was necessary for the administration to disclaim responsibility.Runnyeye and Splitpaw who?
Gnobrin seems to be the only admin who actually listens to EU players - as can be seen by the total lack of update when he is not on after it has gone past the original ETA

<p>Due to last night's server fiasco, our guild ended up rolling new toons on one of the few servers that was up. We all created toons and hit the newbie island.</p><p>By 7:00 PM Eastern, there were two instances of Queen's Colony, with about 40 toons in each. Looks like we weren't the only ones with the same idea. By 9:00 PM, we had enough money to create a new guild. By 9:30 PM, we hit guild level 2 and actually got some random player recruits. By 10:00 PM, I hit level 10, and was a level 8 crafter. At 10:30 PM, I soloed my first heroic and looted my first legendary item and achieved my first AA.</p><p>It was the most fun we've had in a long time.</p>

Especially when levels 1-20 are usually zipped through in a matter of days by the more enthusiastic new players.

At least from the Q & FP training isles you have the logical possibility of taking a boat anywhere. There's also the fact that now instances of the starter isles must be fairly easy to do but wouldn't instances of the starter areas mean the whole zones would be instances, thus making the 8-20 area less populated?BTW, until fairly recently I had an alt on Q training isle for tinkering supplies, and on Runnyeye there were always enough players to group into a few groups. In fact on some days there were too many players meaning resources and mobs were highly contested. You really do not want those zones packed with players.Having rolled a few baby alts recently (just to try out the areas and do a little harvesting) I'd have to say that Q, FP, Gfay and DW (on the Runnyeye server) had plenty of players for the types of tasks they need to do DURING peak times (i.e. groups of more than 3 aren't worth it as most stuff can be solo'd).Obviously that's just my view on just one server, but I thought I'd share it with you. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

And yes, I know the problems aren't related to Legends of Norrath in any way, shape, or form. I mean, it's purely coincidental that downtime has increased since LoN was added to the mix and yesterday's hotfix was completely unrelated to the LoN patch earlier in the day.Since I'm in a sassy mood, I'll put it this way:plz beta lon on test not on live kthxbyeEven if the problems =are= unrelated, it would help convince the skeptics ;^)

LoN has it's own servers, it doesn't reside on the EQ/EQ2 game servers so far as I know.
<cite>djcinder wrote:</cite><blockquote>Experienced very long zone load times and several times the game has hung on "receiving zone information" on both of my accounts.</blockquote><p>That could be the dreaded "crash while zoning" bug. And when I tried "/camp Vatec" it dropped me to character select with only my base account characters available (Station Access ones gone) and all the names in red with "Oasis server down" under them. Every now and then they'll change colors and it claims the server is up, but if I try to log in, it fails.Take it as friendly advice, but don't do anything in-game right now that you're not willing to lose to a rollback ;^)

But it does use login servers and I'd be very surprised if they weren't the same ones they use for EQ2 (and the forums and Vanguard and just about everything else, as far as I can tell). And the current issues (and yesterday's issues) do appear to be related to the login servers.I used to be a network administrator, but that was a long time ago and involved totally different operating systems. So I can only offer an educated guess, at best.
