This happens within a matter of 20 seconds of starting the game. If i resize the window or go to full screen, everything comes back to normal for a few seconds then back to whats shown in those screenshots. I have tried updating vista and my GPU drivers and nothing helps. Neither does the graphics settings. I dont know what to do. My CPU was at like 59C and GPU at 65C when i checked after this was happening for a few minutes. I have a DXDiag posted in a previous post about this that got no further replies so im trying again. If you have an idea of what to check and want to see the dxdiag i can repost it. Please someone....this is driving me crazy.

is EQ2 the only game where this is happening? Looks like the GPU is a bit borked

Thanks for the replies. Yes, EQ2 is the only one that does this, though i really never got great performance out of any game on this machine. I was hitting about 40fps with WoW. I would think it should have been at least 60 at all times. just a bump in hopes of someone having an idea of a fix for this

did this just randomly happen one day?

Nope, this has happened since i first installed the game...and reinstalled it. This is the only game that does this too. I just heard back finally from Tech support about running the game in some compatibility mode for XP SP2. Hopefully that fixes something. I wont know until....well until i get the internet turned back on at home =(

Since you have nice new parts it seems, I'd definetly feel like blaming a software issue. Those pictures also look like what happens when ones video card memory gose to pots, but with a fairly new 8800 GTX, I would hope this would not be the case. I would for sure check on the compatability modes because it not hardware it simply looks like the graphics instrustions are being mistranslated by the system (DX9 to Dx10?)

With your processor and 8800GTX i think you should be able to run EQ2 with all on max with a high amount of AA, WoW should definitly (beside lag problems) run on 80+ fps...My recommendation would be formatting and installing from scratch, with newest drivers

Maybe this should be merged with this thread, as they appear to be the same issue. I just wanted to add though that I am seeing this issue as well with my Vista system and a 8800 GTX. I do *not* see it when I pop in my 7900 GTX instead (same driver).I have tried different drivers, different settings, etc. but have not been able to figure this one out.

Just got my card back from EVGA. I decided to do an RMA and go figure....same problem. This time i had my character in Everfrost from playing around on my laptop and my display looked like it had when i was in Qeynos. Any other ideas?

I think i may have figured this one after all. As i started toying around with other options, i noticed the end of the box the gpu came in had a sticker talking about 2 power cords necesary for this card. I only had one. I went searching around all my boxes and behold...i found another cord. So i plugged it in to my PS and my GPU thinking this couldnt really be causing my problems....sure enough, i have now been on eq2 for a good 15 minutes straight without a single problem. So for anyone else with this problem, MAKE SURE YOU PLUG IN BOTH POWER CORDS!!!!!
