We unfortunately found a problem on some of the servers that had been restored to their 7am state. I do apologize for taking down the servers without notice, but it was done to minimize any character corruption that was happening.Gnobrin has been keeping up with the server changes in this thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=379959and posted the down servers as soon after they came down as he could.Again a sincere apology for the inconvenience I know this is causing a lot of our players. We are working with several teams to get the servers back up and healthy as soon as possible.Any new information will be posted in Gnobrins thread so please watch that for announcements.Heading back to the grindstone now. - K

On Crushbone the broker was eating your newly added items. I'm sure there's a database issue...but my issue is, my beer level is at optimum...Been looking forward to this friday all month, what with the long weekend and all.

I swear I won't add anything to the broker...just please bring Crushbone back up

I'm sorry, but does this become a habit now? Do we need to get used to the fact that the servers went down for nothing several hours at least once a week? Last week we had to deal with this long downtime because of LoN, today we have to deal with it . . .why? . . . "assisting a very few players"? What will it be next week? Coffeemachine broke?I'm located in europe and when you take the servers down it is 4 pm. The time most people start the fun part of the day. I can deal with this one hour patch time, absolutely no problem, 4 hours for a GU is fine with me because I know there is a very good reason for it, but that long (only today 4 pm - ? , now it is 2:05 am and servers are still down) for nothing is not acceptable. Well, at least you learned from last week to talk to us and keep us updated.

I like how this thread gets a response but others gettin locked or outright deleted. I guarantee they got more ppl watching these forums for hate posts than they do fixing the game...

I like how in Gnobrin's forum post the servers are listed individually so the problem appears isolated and under control.

Guess it would be bad form to just say "hey we FUBARED the game servers before the long holiday weekend because we needed some overtime" and be done with it.

I too would like to commend SOE on the timing to apply "a little update". Kiss that vacation day goodbye.

Anoija

Eric Hanke

Wow... Seems as if at least a few developers. analysts and designers need to learn the meaning of the term regression testing. Game servers down on a Friday evening is not the impression a company concerned about customer relations wants to present to their customer base. How about rolling back the patch that has caused the problem and restricting access to the game for those, and I quote, "...very few players..." who have issues? The rest of us want to be able to play.

I'm still not seeing anyone from SOE take responsibility for causing this downtime. You found a problem. You (collectively "you", not Kirstie personally) caused the problem. According to Gnobrin's post, a small fix, intended to benefit very few players has caused this massive downtime, thus affecting the lot of us. How about owning your collective screw up? That would certainly go a long way toward making me happy. I hate it when big companies act like software and coding errors just magically appear

They already tried the "roll the server back" thingy.

I too agree with the timing of this "patch" and question SOE's ability to test and manage the implementation of patches on the EQ2 servers.

Is this the first MMO SOE's developed? You would think a tried and true system would be in place to test patches to make sure things like this don't happen. But after 2 very long outages in the same number of weeks, guess the Patch System still needs a few "patches".

Eric Hanke

Sony has never, not even an expansion release... patched on anything except a wednesday exactly because of this possible issue. Every LU and every expansion patch has been on a wednesday since launch.

"hotfixes" can go in at any time, and are usually considered either A) urgent enough (like plat dupe bug) or B) isolated enough (very focused and considered low probabilty to break anything)

Just blows that one of these hotfixes did cause a problem on a friday AND on a holiday weekend.

Still... I wouldn't be surprised to see even 'hotfixes' banned from friday deployments after this.
