About a 12/18 months ago, they did a double roll back, and I lost almost all my plat (I only had one plat at the time).

What happened was I posted several items to an alt but not all at the same time, it was over an hour or so. Now the mail service in EQ2 does not seem to be linked with the game itself directly (not sure if seperate software tool) and there is a delay in receiving mail (as you all know)

Anyway due to a double roll back taht occured that tume, I lost some of the items sent by mail. The GM's where helpful but only had logs of my first set of items sent and not the second (maybe lost with the double roll back?)

So I lost my money and ranted and raved, and now I do not use the mail service (yes I know it works 99.9% of the time and I am just being silly). However, I would advise with the possibility of a second roll back, you could land up in a similar place.

I suggest you do not send mails with items until they are sure the servers are stable

I would go as far as saying don't do anything "important" until the servers seem to have settled down. Be prepared for a potential roll-back by not committing to anything of value to you, don't go camp that annoying spawn. Don't go finish that HQ.

They should be there after a reboot, I had a similiar issue with completing Teachings of Yoru and the staff wouldnt show in inventory but did on a merchants window and would allow me to sell it even though it wasnt actually visible in my bags, a restart of the game fixed that.

As for the OP yes I agrea that until atleast a day after the servers come up its a good idea to not use the mail for anything of real value.

Also it looks like atleast Befallen has been rolled back to yesterday morning 7am PST as my main is now showing a level lower than what it actually and the client character select looks diferent so be warned.

If they rollback that far my son and I will be disappointed as well. I mailed out plate from my two main money makers to all most all of my underlings on my two accounts. It may have been 20 to 25 platt. My son won a fabled ring Thursday night in a raid. He will be very angry about losing that. He caught several viruses and three trojans this week. The trojan somehow got into his bank account and sent out duplicate payments of over $500 from his checking account. The bank has returned most of it and they investigating and looking to bring charges. If that wasn't bad enough he had to purchase the full Windows OS to do a complete reformat of his hard drive and then reinstall everything from scratch. He was looking forward to his sole bright spot form his Raid after running around faxing stuff off to the bank. You will all hear him screen and feel the impact of his computer being tossed from a two-story window.Zoo

This doesn't make any sense to me, doesn't SOE have some foolproof system which keeps track of every piece of in game loot / coin? Won't you just be able to petition and get it back?

From a technical point of view, restoring systems to a point in time is tricky when multiple systems are involved (in theory it should not be the case, but if you are in the computer industry, you will be aware of this continual problem) From the way I have seen mail work and SOE the game, these are two seperate applications with different databases.

Hehe, there are dozens of threads with people screaming in them, so I'm sure there are other people annoyed about stuff. It's too bad about your lost work, though. I can only send you some virtual comfort.

This is just getting ridiculous.

It's a game.

Getting all bunged up about this means you really need to get up and go get some fresh air for a few days.

If it really makes you that mad? Contribute. Make a toon on Test and take the time to level it and /bug and /feedback while you level. Test the changes and keep up on the TEST updates so you know what to test.

Until you are willing to do that? My suggestion would be - unplug for a while. Go outside, spend some time with other people and remember what is really important.

Oh is that the same reason you are online right now away from the light? Funny.

Test didn't work anyway.. as they posted. So "contributing" had nothing to do with the debacle yesterday. NOthing will get it back. Testing won't fix it.

I'm not concerned enough to be the Nth person (how many flame posts are we up to now?) to start a thread for whiners. I find it funny and pathetic that everyone is getting so wound up about it. It is a game.

Not that it's your business, I just happened to be checking my email and checked the forums for responses to a constructive post and found the trail of hate here.

Since when did you become a moderator? You don't have the "right" to attempt to shut me up. Just as moderators and devs can ignore what we say as whining you have the right to do the same. Stop trying to "shut" people who have a displeasure about the roll back. Go back to what you were doing rather than attempting to police the board. Moderators exist for that reason.

You addressed me directly and I responded. I think the whole thing is rather overblown and relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I'm actually having fun now hopping from dismal thread to dismal thread being snarky because the gloom and doom is so over the top as to be absurd.

Relax a little, I'm not trying to attack you, I just think everyone needs to take a breath and stop spewing hate for five minutes. You think the engineers wanted to spend a Friday night/Saturday morning on a holiday weekend doing this? They are definitely more irritated about this situation than you can imagine.
