Are Bruisers good versus tough named mobs? I have had mixed results with mine so far in the early 40's. Trying to decide if I should stick with him or focus on my Brigand.I mostly solo and the ability to mend and feign death is priceless but not me worth as much if I can get down to a tough named mob and can't kill it.Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

As always it depends on the gear and the group. My 70 bruiser which i grouped with from like level 20 to 70 used to tank named mobs in all the old xp zones fine. but i always made time to harvest while lfg instead of soloing mobs for 5% xp. which allowed me to buy at least a full set of mastercrafted and or fabled gear at each new tier. i think with just treasured items if you could keep agro it would be a pain but you could tank any named mob with a decent healer and good dps in your group. In my opinion for a bruiser its going to be alot harder unless you go out of your way and get at least mastercrafted compared to a plate tank. This is for one reason, plate tanks have some cushion when they get hit. us on the other hand need to get very good at dodging. without that good armor not only will you get hard, but without the stats you will get hit often. not to mention without some good weapons and at least adept 1 spells it will be hard to even hold agro. pallys got it easy, amends and mastercrafted and they can let the wizard do all the work. *sigh*

Thanks for taking the time to respond guys. Like I said though, I mostly solo so finding a partner or a group is not something i'm interested in or able to do regularly. I just want to know if they are a good class for killing named heroics. Lets say for arguments sake I have mostly all mastercrafted gear.

If you want to solo blue or higher you will need good gear - legendary to fabled.

At level 45 I was able to to solo 8 different named in RE + Varsoon everyday. That is pretty much the high point of bruiser solo'ing for me. It got much harder after that.

We can solo green nameds. Blues are risky. 'Possible' but very close and dependent on gear. At 40s plus, Heroic nameds are pretty much (for three people or more!) mobs. I can kill them with my girlfriend, a fury, backing me up to a certain point, and the ones we can't we usually get down to a smidgen of health before it's GG. There are a few ridiculously hard hitting nameds that are just guaranteed 'you need more than two people' though, naturally.

Bruisers solo named heroics just fine...My bruiser is very well geared and I can run through SoS and kill every single named in there with the exception of the epic They range from green to blue. KoS zones are now rediculously easy...I farm the yellow named in PoA with only a tiny risk of death, and I solo the Nest on a daily basis.

I'm a 45 bruiser, and I have only come across a few green heroic nameds that I could not solo (one being the sludge cleaner in DFC). I have been able to take one or two blues as well.

I am in full mastercrafted, I am 4-4-8-8-1 in the INT aa line, and for EoF aa's I have maxed selfheal and I am halfway down the 'attack' tree.

At 42, I soloed the Varsoon ring event in the Chamber of Immortality.

At 44, I soloed the entire nektropos castle locket event incl. Maltus Everling.

At 45, I soloed Oracle N'marre for War and Wardrobe (but she was frickin' hard).

My next challenge is going to be finishing the Stein of Moggok HQ solo at 46.

This is not the average person.

Good HQ for quick XP and good AA

True, I am in mostly all EoF fabled...non-contested stuff though. But even still, I see legendary bruisers or bruisers with KoS fabled running through SoS farming the named...may not take out the harder blues...but they can take out almost everything else.

So let's talk strategy here.

I've just hit 46, and I've noticed that named fights are starting to become a little more difficult. I see some posts in other areas by Bruisers saying that they can take blue or white nameds on at my level. Also, some people say that they can easily use the self heal twice in one fight against a named. I don't even come close to being able to do that.

As stated before, I am in all mastercrafted gear. I have most of my damage CA's mastered. I have no adornments yet. I am using twin mastercrafted fighting batons.

What would your strategy against a blue+ con named mob be in the mid to high 40's? Stance, CA order, etc.

Also /disable your xp so you stop leveling and can gear up. In terms of actual battle strategy you will want to start in offensive stance and chain stun the mob with your CA's. When the stuns are over switch to defensive and strong arm mez the mob when all your CA's are spent. Use fear too if he won't run into adds. Stay in defensive mode until you can chain lock the mob again in offensive. Use the heal when you have to and make sure that it is mastered. I was able to pull in 5 to 10 master drops a day by killing all the named in RE and the 4 named in Obelisk of Lost Souls.
