The title says it all, but was just curious as to the thoughts of the warlock community.

I recently changed from a +25 damage to all spells cloak to a +2% Critical Boost...

I've got a rather large spreadsheet that I use to compare these types of cases. In today's world 1% crit change adds about 0.45% DPS. To get that same increase from +spell damage it takes ~20-25 spell damage.

After GU 38 goes live, it will only take ~15 spell damage.

I think for now you've probably gained some DPS and will be about break even in the future. However, if you can get the sol ro cloak, I don't believe anything will parse close to that cloak after GU 38.

The cloak is a quest item actually, from MMC.

However, that being said let me also say that I am an idiot.

It's actually +2% MELEE critical.

A good discussion just the same...Back to the +damage cloak I go!

well last time i exiled one of my chars, you do not lose your spells untill the end of the quests and, you are warned about that inside the city you betray to.

Warlocks are a neutral class. You can betray and still remain a warlock. Is that what you are asking? As for choosing a god - if you are good-aligned, no, obviously you cannot choose an evil god. You have to be evil-aligned to worship an evil god. And Bertoxxulous is an evil god. Since he is also the god of poisons and decay, it would be to any warlock's advantage to be evil and worship him. Thus, I made the statement that if you are a good warlock, you are SOL. (sh** outta luck)

On that note, if you were going to consider betraying to evil in order to get Bert., this expansion will be a good time. Since all normal spell lines will be upgraded, the loss of master spells will be recovered when you master out the new tier. You will just be weaker until you finish upgrading to the new tier.
