Beta is not up yet, and some point when beta is out the following will happen:Your account will be flagged for beta because you got EquinoxYou will receive an email on how to join beta

If this goes anything like the past betas, they will probably post on the news page and here in the forums when they begin accepting beta applications. I'm pretty sure that you have to apply if you want in, regardless of whether you bought EQuinox. My money is on RoK beta first wave happening in the second or third week of September.

so can you get in the rok beta if you buy the EQuinox now as well? or did you have to preorder it to get in?

You had to preorder the mag

I'm pretty sure pre-ordering only provides you with a *chance* of getting into the beta.

Josgar wrote:
Beta is not up yet, and some point when beta is out the following will happen:Your account will be flagged for beta because you got EquinoxYou will receive an email on how to join beta
Beta IS up and HAS been up for over two weeks now. A majority of the Fan Faire participants are playing beta right this very moment. The /betacopy command has been enabled in game to allow for Beta participants to copy toons over from live servers.Again, the Beta IS up. Unfortunately, Equinox subscribers have been screwed over. We don't get into beta right away, we either get in slowly...tricked in over the duration of the Beta...or we get in at the very end, about the time expansion pre-orders would normally get in.

So if the external testing phase of Beta has started and all of these Fanfaire participants are already in, then why was is posted onEQ2 players that Fanfaire participants and Equinox preorders need to goto the beta signup link and sign the NDA before they can get into beta? Doesn't make since that they would let any of them in before they decided on a way to make sure participants had signed the NDA. Unless your forum handle is red and tagged with administrator no one should put very much faith in any speculation. Remember you weren't screwed unless you don't get into Beta.

There's not much speculative about it. If you bother to read a few threads here on this forum, you'll find a number of people who broke the NDA, when they came to this forum to say they were having trouble logging into the beta server the other day when they had the 14 hour downtime. As well as a number of people with beta keys having issues connecting to the beta web page where they download the beta login client. All of them, Fan Faire participants. It's an absolute fact, there ARE Fan Faire participants in beta...right now. It's an absolute fact, the /beta add command didn't respond before a couple of weeks ago. Also, to directly dispute your eq2players post about Fan Faire/Equinox players being required to agree to the NDA, and the need to only pay attention to Rednames...here's a fun quote for you: Gnobrin wrote:

If you've ordered Equinox for the beta or if you were part of the most recent Fan Faire and given the beta for Rise of Kunark, when the beta actually opens, you'll be contacted. This is JUST a matter of us "filling the pool" of players so they can then be thrown into Kunark over time from that time on. if there's further question, please PM me and I'll be happy to shed further light.

~Gnobrin!

According to this Redname, all Fan Faire and Equipnox players will be contacted when the beta opens. There's no mention of any requirement to signup or agree to the NDA.So...will you believe a Redname's post, as you site them to be the ones to have faith in...or a post to eq2players?

I think they meant this thread http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=384338

No, here's a thread specifying a user with a problem using the web site wherein they enter the beta key for being a Fan Faire participant (the web page they download the beta launchpad login client). Notice also a reference to another user who received email with beta details.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=384026This thread, in which the main thrust of the thread is a guy who blatently violated the NDA because he was unable to access beta during the 14 hour down time.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=383868Several clear indicators, people are in beta. It has started. For whatever reason, all the Fan Faire participants aren't all in. Nor are the Equinox subscribers. Apparently, we all get trickled in over time. Personally, I wish they had told us that to start with.

here for all of you who don't seem capable of finding it. as for the faith in the amins and developers, maybe i should just wait for Pedigru to send me my E-mail on what to do to get into Beta. Since he has more info than the ones who work on and around the game.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=384338

Whats with the fixation on getting into beta? I sent my email in but if I don't get in no sweat...I'll just wait until the finished product is deemed worthy of release to the customer base. You have to ask what your motivation is when you get so upset about not getting invited. Is it to play and critique the game with regular feedback, or is it so you can be all "uber" over us newbs when the expansion hits?

Being that you usually have to meet people to become thier "friend" and that the best way to meet an EQ2 Dev to the point of becoming a "Friend" is to goto ALOT of Fan Faires it makes sence that most if not all of the knowen BETA testers are Fan Faire attendees. The fact that only SOME of FF attendees are in beta means that those people are NOT in beta because they went to Fan Faire its because those people know wich devs to bribe.

That being said I am fairly certian that they will be starting Open beta fairly soon. However, in order to participate you DO have to "sign" the NDA, otherwise you get in.

However, if they wait that long or even say until 2 weeks befor it ends I will be mad right along side you.

My guess is that Fan Faire and EQuinox people will get there invite late this week early next week.

I like beta testing because its fun to see the new content early, sure, but I also like being part of finding and helping to fix bugs and such. It was a lot of fun to help beta test EoF and be able to point to quest text and say "see? that's a lot easier to figure out where to go and it isn't mispelled anymore" because of my input. I like playing on Test server for the same reasons.
