Is there going to be any sort of faction play in Rise of Kunark similar to the old Scars of Velious expansion? I'd hate to be forced to side with the Sarnak against the Iksar, especially if I was an Iksar. I think it would awesome to be able to choose to side with either the Iksar or the Sarnak, or spurn both and work for the Ring of Scale.

It's just my opinion, but I felt the faction play in Velious added much more depth to the gameplay and it could here as well.

I agree.Sadly, I doubt it will happen however. The latest quest on Test server sends all characters into a battle with an iksar ship. Iksar characters have no choice in fighting other iksar if they do the quest.

The Iksar are ruled by Venril Sathir, no true Iksar would ever follow Venril Sathir.

Ergo these vile Sathirists need to be wiped out and a true Iksar Empire rebuilt from ashes.

You have a similar situation if you're a high elf player adventuring in New Tunaria. As far as I'm concerned, the player based Iksar are the "true" Iksar and if the computer Iksar aren't behaving you'll have to convince them as to the error of their ways. By convince I mean slash, hack, nuke, cripple, maim, and generally be unpleasant.

More faction quests should be available. I liked the way factions worked in EQ1.

There's also the Dark Elf vs. Dark Elf sides of Neriak vs. Thexians. Call it internal strife, civil war, whatever, but there's always a power struggle inside every culture, so why not within each race?

i dont see why us iksars can't "follow" venril sathir? that should be a choice which every iksar can make. follow venril, expand his empire or oppose him and kill him.follow venril and have epic questlines to crush the sarnak and vice versa and then the neutral ones that kill 'em all there are so many angles and opportunity to play this with, and im dying to see what they do with it.i just hope they make it more interessting than kill raidmob xx and get loot xx and have 1 or 2 interessting quest's.

Hrm.. If I was an iksar and I had the choice between subservience to the humans of Freeport and the squallor of the the Scale Yard or joining Sathir as he leads the Iksar Empire back to glory from the ancient imperial capitol of Sebilis...

Yeah..tough choice.

/target Lucan D'Lere

/rude

/wave

Lucan is a lich, and a dictator, so... Iksar homeland with possability of offing the undead leader? or Iksari n freeport slumin it up under a undead human?

Ekaunek@Lucan DLere wrote:
Sathir is a heretic. I would never side with the horrid Sarnak. If Venril Sathir is leading my people to true glory, I will join him.
