Hi all !

New player here, i'am looking for a melee class that can get around no problem and solo content well a efficiently. I'am considering between Brigand, shadowknight and monk.

I'am almost decided on brigand except I wanna dual weild and I want to know if its gonna be ok for solo capabilities, also I will be duoing with a Fury from time to time.

I really don't want to be a brigand with a shield, just don't fit the rogue I wanna play.

So is dual weilding brigand good at solo ( I'll probably be soloing 70 % of the time) and will it also work dual weilding when I duo with a fury.

Or should I just look elsewher for another class ?

Thanks alot in advance for the help.

Brigand is -very- good at solo content. I've solo'ed mine all the way up to 46, using dual wield, with absolutely no problems at all. I've got 45 AA's atm and am Str/Agi line. Str for + crit and Agi has some nice buffs/bonus to positional attacks, plus Walk the Plank is very useful for brigy. I've tried every class in the game and thus far I've actually found Brigand to be the easiest to solo...however there is a catch you have to be somewhat fast on your toes (or on your keyboard in this case) because you will be doing a lot of positional attacks. You stun a mob and get behind it and smack it with as many as your positional attacks as possible, or you use Walk the Plank to spin the mob around and expose its back to you.

Brigands are pretty sturdy though and can take more hits than some other rogue classes. Very good choice for solo IMHO.

I have Soloed a lot of my 63 levels and it is doable and not real hard. you should have no problems with most ^ and even a few ^^ mobs that are orange and below. Of course all of this might differ depending on playing style.

Brigs are great at soloing. I used DW all the way until the AA's came out. I then switched to 1h for raiding and such. You will have no issues soloing a DW Brig. Also with LU39 i am guessing all 1h Brigs will be reverting back to DW due to the changes coming out. DW will yeild more potential for higher DPS. They will be doing away with ALL DW weapons. And those weapons will become 1h weapons, but you will be able to have one in each hand (just wont be called DW) some to be used in Main hand/Off hand only, but most of them will be able to be used in both slots. The Dmg rating of those DW weapons will be increased as well. So, Im sure most Brigs will be going back to "Dual Weilding".

Thanks alot for the answers all !

Happy To know I'll be able to stay dual weild and solo alot.

I got my first AA's last night and was wondering what path should I go for, was thinking based on a few posts I read that str/agi down then go the brigand tree, is that the typical path folowed by brigand soloer ?

For soloing I actually sacrificed a bit to go down the int line. I know many people are against it because the only skill worthwhile is the last one but for soloing I have found that having a feign death option at all times is invaluable. not just for saving my butt but for mob splitting.Brigands are not good at muti mob encounters and having feign helps out a ton against groups of mobs, in fact it is perfect due to our high burst damage. Run in Spam out your CA's to kill the first mob fast, feign death, rinse repeat. Invaluable. For dual weilding you could go down the agi line and get some nice bonuses as well and the last skill is really great for those burst damage situations.

Str + Agi is a very viable option. Str line gives you lots to + melee crit (you will definately see a rise in your crit once you put some points into it), an extra attack, and a few nice perks here and there. Agi is great for brigand. Lots of + damage for all our positional attacks, agi increases power and avoidance, and you get Walk the Plank which gives you yet another option to get that mob's back to you so you can unload the best damage.

It's true Brigands aren't the best at multi mob encounters but you should have no problem at all with arrow down groups and even groups of no arrow up (or down) mobs if you can dispatch one or two of them quickly enough. I take out groups of 3-5 (usually one arrow down if more than 3) without any trouble. Yes there are better classes for this, but brigands can do it if they're quick and know which mob needs to go down first. I can't comment on the int line as being good or bad because I've never tried it, I've been agi + str the whole way and it's worked very well for me. Of course it kind of also depends on your play style, you can kind of mess around with it and if you don't like the set up you get, you can just retrain your AA's for a bit of gold (I believe if you talk to your specific Brigand trainer you also get 5 reset free cards from him too. )

Oh just as a note, as a brigand you will want to always keep poison on your weapon. You can buy poison from certain vendors or relatively cheap from the broker, or even comission an alchemist to do some for you if you check around your server's tradeskill community.
