Hi Guys

I was thinking of being an armour maker because its so important for our class, but although I'm lv7 (dont all laugh) when iIfinally get to lv 70 I'll be getting set peices so making armour wont be as important/useful?

So whats your experiences of useful tradeskills that will still be good at the highest levels for our class?

IMO, a provisioner or an alchemist would be better suited crafts for the long term.

I agree. Provisioner (make food and drink) or alchemist (make combat art upgrades, but more importantly potions) would be my first choices if I had to do it again.

I originally made an Alchemist to make my own CA's but out leveled him quickly. I eventually finished leveling him to 70 primarily for potions and found that being able to make poisons was a nice bonus(I have an up and coming swash alt). I basically will make any adeptIII for free for people(if they supply the rare) as long as I keep the dusts that are produced and used to create the poisons If you can't use the poisons you can sell them.

So is armorer ultimately useless? Im 52, have armor crafting at 29...maybe i should do some thinking as to what craft i really want before i get to high. My gf is a provisioner and i know a good carpenter so those two are not options im interested in.

What about metal weapon crafter? will i ever make a weapon at 70 ill want to use over something i can get casually raiding?

Well depending on how good (or not good) your healers are a carpenter is a nice choice, save a bundle on patch kits

~Raithan 70 bruiser, 70 carpenter, Venekor

I took up Alchemy thinking the pots not only the CA's would be helpful, but wow the higher level pots don't seem to do that much as far as healing goes. The buff ones seemed like they could be usable, or is there something I'm missing? Still worth it for me for the CA's but the higher level pots, I'm not sure. Any Alchemists have some inspiration out there?

I think picking a crafting class to benefit your adventuring class is a bad idea. You should pick the one you enjoy most (or none if you don't enjoy any). If you just want the stuff it is cheaper to buy it, or make friends with a crafter and get it made. Only craft if you find it fun. Whilst armoursmith would be useful when you get near the level cap you would be looking to replace all your crafted armour with stuff from raids. Similarly alchemist would provide you with adept IIIs but you would eventually look to replace them with Masters. Alchemists do function better as crafters since they produce consumables that are in demand (mainly poisons). In fact from a view of producing things to sell only weaponsmiths are in a worse position than armoursmiths (though that may be going to change). You can respec your crafting class (dropping back to level 10) so you can try a class and change if you don't like it.
