Hi - Dimishing returns Question about stats

Im about to hit 70 and i have almost all of my EoF legendary Set gear...

I want to know when to stop putting more into STA (because of diminishing returns) and put more into AGI for avoidance

Basically im about to put treasured adorns on my armor peices - and just wanted to check if upping my avoidance would provide better tanking ability

(i really doubt it as STA is where i should put my points -- but.. it doesnt hurt to check)

cheers Baz

PS im posting this in Zerker forum aswell... as it applies to them aswell

From a raiding perspective it's hit points for the win imo.

Once you have reached a reasonable point on diminishing returns for mit, resists and avoidance (very easy to get in legendary gear) no matter how much you pump your avoidance a mob will end up at some point hitting you rapidly 3 times in a row without heals or else twin aoeing plus an auto attack in the face just to [Removed for Content] you off or debuffing your mit/level and hitting for 13k.

Having the hps to take 3 large hits before death instead of just 2 is usually the difference between being fully fabled geared and crappy geared.

It's all about being able to take spike damage first of all and then after that it's about your group/raid having the power regen/dps to bring a mob down.

From a heroic perspective I think avoidance plays a much larger role since mobs tend not to have massive bonuses and are not usually orange con etc. so for heroic content I'd suggest a balance between avoidance and hps as you will likely need to still be taking some spike dmg from named mobs etc.

From a solo perspective I prefer all out avoidance since you will not usually be trying to kill heroic orange con mobs that have big bonuses to hit and thus avoid will give a much better return for you.

What's a reasonable amount of HP for a Guard to have self buffed? I am 8150 at them moment.

Is there any basic ways / gear I should be looking at to increase my HP?

Armour wise, EoF legendary set pieces from heroic content is probably your best bet . Look up where each piece drops and just farm farm farm until you get it!

jewellery wise the eof collections will reward you with some excellent items that rival and in most cases are better than KoS fabled!

Adornment wise there are great hp bonuses on shoulders and rings aswell as stamina bonuses on boots legs and wrists!

Once you have most of the pieces then CMM has some very nice pieces that will boost your character in the aggro department. By this point you would be grouping with players in raid capable guilds and you might get an invite if you're good!

And as for the hp you have, don't worry about it! Just work towards improving it

Thanks

Just need hands, pants and helm for the eof legendary set... I will look into the collections.

Got my soundly spanked in Freethinkers (killed the first named) but I am thinking it was mainly due to grp makeup... guild leader would not let me have the dirge so I ended up with Templar, Defiler, Fury, Coercer, Assassin.

I think I would have been beeter of with Templar, Defiler, Fury, Coercer, Dirge... but it would have hurt raid wide dps as we only had a single dirge.

I was told to improve my HP. (It was the second group of 5 on the way to the second named)

Drop the fury and add the assassin, helps ya push aggro higher raidwide.

Dont bother with the STA wrist adornments, instead get the 2% parry adornments. Avoidance is king since EoF. When youve got over 650ish STA theres no point in focusing on extra STA, your only getting approx 2.2HP from 1STA. Imo aim for 600STR, 600STA, 460def skill, 460parry skill. AGI is a bonus if you can get it up high.

Some Guardians dont bother much with defense stats, they are just focusing all out offensive, ie buckler spec aa and the works. Which tbh you may aswell just use a Zerker if you need high dps on whichever mob.
