I was doing some old quests in Nek forest last night and I came across a section I had never seen before, in the very north and near one of the rag dolls for the Nek castle portrait quest. Some sort of lava being was floating in the air in front of a gate, which was not clickable. His name was the Keeper of Secrets. He said this:When the one who walked from the water is made whole, the heralds of the nine shall arise. Knowledge is key. That is all. That's all he said, even when I repeatedly hailed him. Any clue who the nine or the person who walked from the water is? Is this an old NPC or is he fairly new? And is this part of a live event I missed, or perhaps a quest?I'm interested b/c of the connection between "the Nine" and the prophecy/rune lore out there in <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=374178" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this post.</a> Just wondering if it was connected to this. Thanks to all who help!

<span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;font-family: comic sans ms,sand;">'The one who walked from the water' is old Zeb himelf, he was found on the shore of Mara with no memories. 'The heralds of the nine' are the prophets to the 8 (9 if you count Bristlebane's soon return) Gods. Don't know much about that floaty guy but he has always been there, what he says changes just before the Expansions are due out with hints about what to expect</span>

<p>Keeper of Secrets has been saying this since before the release of EoF.</p><p>He hints to the return of 9 dieties and their prophets to Norrath. "The one that walked from water" is refering to Zebuxoruk, who is "made whole", or regains his memory, when Chel'Drak is defeated in Anthechamber of Fate (Fallen Dynasty adventurepack)...</p><p>Door behind him used to lead to Lavastorm (?). Not sure if that was only in beta tho...</p><p> Edit: DrkVsr beat me to it.lol</p>

Huh, so I was right, it may have something to do with the prophecy and all of that. I'm just suspicious that 'the nine' may not be gods at all but perhaps the runes or something else altogether b/c there are really far more than 9 gods in Norrath. I think it's awesome that the guy projects about the expansions, I'll have to keep an eye on him. Thanks for the Zeb bit too, but I have a question about him. I thought he was locked up forever or something, by Druzzil Ro when she split the timelines? What does he have to do with Mara? Haven't gotten to Chel'drak with my guild yet. And it makes sense for it to lead to Lavastorm since it's on the other side of the mountain, but they probably didn't want to throw level 20-30 adventurers straight to such a high zone, probably too dangerous being there. Either that OR they're reserving it for something. Maybe his message will change when Kunark comes out. <p><span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;">Yeah, there are far far more than just 9 in the Norathian Pantheon, but only 9 (if you count Bristlebane) have actually returned</span></p><p><span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;">That door is supposed to lead to LS, but LS is a seperate island now so only Cusa knows where it leads now <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span></p>

Speaking of the Keeper, anyone have a Test character that can see if he says anything new? With the 'heralds of the nine' finally all in the game, it may be time for him to finally have a new prophesy.

Yeah he's been saying that same line since Fallen Dynasty came out last June. I wonder if they ever plan to update him?

Unfortunately none of my test characters are in their 30s yet, which is about the level required to safely go to that area of Nek. And to Gukkor, Bristlebane should be returning with the next live update, which should be in a few days. Think his quest line starter was on the EL Docks.Be awesome if they kept him updated though, guess I picked a good time to ask about this guy <img src="/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Like I said in that post you linked to earlier, I'm not convinced the "nine" refer to deities at all. Why would he reference 9 when there were only 8 to begin with and the next one comes just a short time before several others? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm more inclined to think it's talking more about the runes and the mystery of Norrath they represent.

<span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;font-family: comic sans ms,sand;">It was always supposed to be 9 Prophets/Gods, they just 'forgot' to activate Bristlebane until now (or they just hid his prophet too well and just got tired of waiting for the players to find the prophet)</span>

Well that's certainly funny if it's true, as well as possibly revealing (although if it's true there is still validity to the runes theory), but I have to be a niggling lore lover and ask...where did that information come from?

<span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;font-family: comic sans ms,sand;">Which part?</span>

The part about the missing Bristlebane either being an oversight that completes the NineAND/ORthe part that there were supposed to be nine gods in the expansion anyways.Where did you hear that stuff? It makes sense but I like to confirm.

<span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;font-family: comic sans ms,sand;">Not sure if Bristlebane was always touted as the 9th (heck, he could even be the 10th with the 9th still to be discovered) but when they announced the Gods were returning they said there would be 3 each, ah only ever managed to find the locations of the Prophets to Brell, Inny, Tunare, Mith Marr and the one in LS (wasn't able to do that quest as was still unable to see anything further than about 5 feet in LS at that time) there was also a goblin Profit on the docks in EL (can't remember which god he claimed he was Profiteering for) but he didn't really do anything just waffle on a bit</span>

Yeah, from what I've heard the goblin on the EL docks is going to be the quest NPC for Bristlebane.

<span style="font-size: medium;color: #993300;font-family: comic sans ms,sand;">Really? Ah thought it was going to be one of the hobbits who used to loiter around the end of the dock looking for handouts so they can keep their feet-hair from spreading and turning them into chubby rats <img src="/smilies/69934afc394145350659cd7add244ca9.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></span>

KK, thanks...my thought is that it might not show up until Kunark is released, and then it will predict what will happen up until the next expansion, and so on.

Actually, Ilucide made a post saying there were only going to be eight. Pretty sure those goblins were just for added fun. I still think it means something different than what we originally thought whether it be runes or something entirely different.

Yeah those goblins on the docks are the "Profit of Bristlebane", as in "Ka-Ching!"

IMO, the Nine definitely refers to prophets/Gods. The reason there were only 8 is most likely because they forgot to add one, ran outta time, or just decided to go with 8... but never went back to change Zebuxoruk's prophecy or the Keeper of Secrets' dialogue (the Keeper of Secrets is rarely updated anyways... it's not too hard to believe that his dialogue wasn't changed to 8 when the number of Gods/prophets changed for whatever reason.)

<span style="color: #00cc00;">That reminds me is Bristly's questline for an in-home object like the other godlings or is it the start of his major questline?</span>

The 9 Gods are the gods that are going to be the MOST important on the world of Norrath. The other gods are important but will not play as big as a role as the 9.The 8 gods are part of the 9, the last one has yet to make his/her appearance because that is prolly going to be some World Changing Event.Bristlebane is one of those other gods that arent going to be as important to Norrath as the 9, along with Bert,Karana, and Tribunal(during RoK release).

that elemental was part of the old access quest to lavastorm which was dismantled shortly after i started playing eq2, i ddint know the game devs updated his speech though, i was wondering why they kept him around after the quest was killed off. perhaps he still has a purpose?

<p>Of course he has a purpose, keeping secrets <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /></p><p>Someone should probably tell him that, though...</p>
