Charming a mob from an encounter ..... the other mobs from that encounter will ignore him even if rooted and he's beating on them (encounters are a great idea by the way /rolleyes)Pet dies and you charm another one nearby before the target is dead (4 mobs in an encounter, you have 2 left and your pet dies.. cc them and get the new pet, they ignore the new pet even if rooted or if you havent done anything to them but keep them mezzed)doesnt seem to happen if its just a single target.this may be in a sticky somewhere or maybe people who have been playing longer than 2-3 months like me already know.. but is it intended?given the rather large bug thread in this forum, i'm going to guess its not

As long as I remember its been that way. It is annoying. Also, if you charm a mob in an encounter and then kill the other mobs in the encounter, your charmed mob will disappear when the encounter repops.

Your problem is that you locked your encounters.

That doesnt work well with charm and possession

Are you saying, if I don't lock encounters than this would not happen?Good news, I'm gonna try this!

Locked or unlocked, when the encounter resets your pet will still go poof if you have a pet from the encounter.

So basically charming a member of an encounter is not a valid tactic. You have to love a game where the dev's are afraid of what players might be able to do. Lock everything down to control the gaming experience.. good idea!I haven't been playing long, so maybe I'm missing something. Is there a way to unlock encounters without yelling?

EQ2 is like... EQ for Dummies! This is especially true in this example, but it permiates the entire game.

EQ was so nice in it's simplicity and more open ended gaming. The sad part is all the new games are following the eq2 wow example and taking away any play options.

If they re-did EQ1 with EQ2's graphics engine, I would still be playing that game...

yes yes and YESif EQ had EQ2 graphics or better, and the 3rd person control scheme like wow/eq2, id love it.Games are headed for instant gratification with little to no player freedom. I was hoping RoK would have packs of mobs that weren't encounters, you know, to bring back cc/pulling... buuut you wouldn't want people to have to look for a ceartain class, that would cut into their 20 minutes they had allotted for group time that dayIt's depressing <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" /> edit: actually its not like its hard to find an illusionist.. coercer yes (like 5 of them on above 35 right now)

Hmmmm

I always thought the enchanter was such a neat class in eq1 (I did not play one, but saw what they did in groups).

From what I have been experienceing with mine, and reading on the boards... its not the same situation here.

That is a shame.. so.. what is the point of the Coercer (enchanter) in eq2? To just buff people and be a weaker dps wizard type? We are not needed for crowd control?

Aside from tank and heal there is no real job in eq2. Enchanters mainly make others look good.

I use my Coercer solo and that's about it. If I feel the need to wipe the floor with some nameds in instances/dungeons like Poets Palace, Sanctum of Scaleborn, Nest, Mistmoore Catacombs, Acadechism, Kaladim, Vaults and parts of HoF (haven't bothered doing it all). Have done some raids but it's just so boring really compared to my 70 Necromancer or Illusionist.
