I just got my copy of Equinox ... outstanding mag btw. And as I was reading the RoK article I see the giant blurb "The idea is to design encounters that encourage grouping and are the most fun to play." At the current state of most servers (I am currently on Nektulos) grouping is in fact not the most fun to play, it is quite possibly the most frustrating. Once upon a time I thoroughly enjoyed doing quests and getting groups to do so. But I apparantly missed the 2 week window of opportunity to complet chapter 3 of SoD. I have been trying for 3 solid days for anywhere from 4 - 10 hours to get a group to complete "Into the Heart of Mistmoore" Where is the enjoyment in standing around begging and pleading for someone to group with?

I feel extremely adament in the fact that SOE NEEDS to merge servers yet again. Server population is appaling to put it mildly, if they allow it to slide not even the anticipated outstanding expansion like RoK will be able to save it.

Now before you flame, this is just one mans opinion to which I am entitled.

I too play on Nek and I am some what agressig that atleast on that server we could use another server merge to boost the number of players. I do like grouping put some times it not easy finding one becasue it seems like there really isn't many players on. I can sit LFG and spamming the 60-70 channels for hours at times some times before a group can be found and by that point some times I don't alwas have much play time left.

Server populations are fine. Getting a group can take some effort, mostly because many people are far more content to let others do the work of actually organizing a group. So, if you want a group, start one, and chances are, you'll have a viable group within 10-15 minutes.

Nagafen is great, for grouping, questing, or pvp.

It give some sort of picture of the activity level. Though it dosn't show people who are 70/70 since they don't ding.I know i don't get a ding even if you count all my alts, and i'm pretty sure the average player don't ding every day either, or even every week. So the active population is mostly likely higher than this number.

I hate when people have ideas that can detrimentally affect the game based on assumptions.

Wait until RoK comes out, see how the grouping situation is at that time, and then make requests for changes after there is an idea of what is actually going on.

As soon as RoK comes out, every server population is going to increase by people playing more, old people coming back who have gone MIA, and possibly some new customers. It happens every expansion.

They already said what they meant by this and how they are going to do it.

Overland zones mostly solo with solo quests, but if you want faster xp or better loot, you head into the 'dungeon' entrances spread around the overland zones... you want the best loot (not the best xp, lol)... you go one step further and start the raid progression.

Unlike the spell consolidation, this sounds like it can actually work well... besides server pops aren't bad even now (lull just before expansion), and there is at least one big content patch (shard of fear group & raid instance) before then which will bring some that left back as well.

Antonia Bayle, Lucan D'lere, Nagafen and Vox are the most populated servers, and all have over 100,000 charcters on them. (nagafen almost 130k)

Ok, nice graph now what is not being considered here is the level 1 crafter or adventurer who dings anywhere from 10-15 levels during that day. Also to the person above that say all one needs to do is start a group. I do exactly that is attempt through 60-69 or 70 to start one I also look at the /lfg listing and still I am often left with 2 rangers, myself a dirge, and an illusionist .... notice anything missing? If I do get lucky enough to find a tank I can't find a healer let alone 2, find a healer ... no tank.

Also like I said above this was just my opinion based on the absolutely pitiful status of Nektulos server.

I think that graph may only count each character one time.

The charts you guys are looking at count one character a day. Now that particular character can gain a level(s) each day and will be counted towards each day total number though.Like.. this guy:http://eq2census.com/beta/character...Nagafen/Argonix
