View Full Version : Unable to get the starter god quest from for Bristlebane. Update 8/31/07 Zoning Bug

Test note states<i>"<span class="postbody"><b>Bristlebane Returns</b>Do you consider yourself a practitioner of pranks, a student of the silly, or even a fan of the funny? Does the idea of pulling a practical joke over on someone sound like your idea of a good time? If so, you might make an excellent follower of Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane, the Grand Prankster. Recently scores of puckish jesters, fanciful bards and quick-witted thieves have all been spreading rumors about the imminent return of their favorite Sire of Shenanigans. If Bristlebane has truly arrived and resumed his place aside the other gods who have also returned to Norrath, why has he waited until now? What sort of mischievous plans does the Royal Trickster have in store for his faithful followers? What about the other gods who have yet to reveal themselves since their departure? The answers to these questions are undoubtedly wrapped within a riddle only Bristlebane himself can solve. Those interested in devoting themselves to the Master of Mischief should speak with Tobel Patadash, the self-declared Prophet of Bristlebane at the docks of The Enchanted Lands. Be advised, however, that the Gigglegibber Goblins have their own nonsensical opinion of who they believe the real Prophet of Bristlebane is as well!"</span></i>NPC says he needs time to finish one of his pranks, is the quests live on test?UPDATE 8/30/07:Completed the 1st quest and got the altar, placed in my house and it will not come up with the skills list, only options are move. examine or pickup.UPDATE 8/31/07:Well it seems I get hit with the zoning bug as well, reason I cant use the altar is, after zoning I no longer have Bristlebane as a deity. It seems like actions are reset apon zoning, Buffs, deletion of quests, etc.. once you zone it reverts back to it's previous state.

We seem collectively to be out of luck on Test.  Ah, well.  Not the first time some part of a patch hasn't quite caught up with the rest of it... <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Maybe it is working as intended and you have figure out some type of riddle to get the quest. This is Bristlebane after all. We are so used to dumbed down quests maybe we have to work for this one.

There was a blurb in there about Gigglegibbers having their own idea about who the avatar was so I decided to beat... er have a chatwith one.  Guess what... they are not to be found in TS and Nek anymore.

There used to be gigglegibber goblins on the docks in EL who spoke of Bristlebane coming back when the first gods returned.  I wonder if they are still around...

There is something interesting in Rivervale at the drafling tower. When you walk up "a sleeper" pops and starts talking and says: "Mummble Go away... Fizzlebizzle! The Drafling ain't no buzzin prophet. Mumble"

Same here, even made sure to renounce Sol Ro and have no current deity before hailing him, no such luck.

was a new altar model even added? or is this just a quest like the ones before the gods showed up for a house item?

<cite>shadowscale wrote:</cite><blockquote>was a new altar model even added? or is this just a quest like the ones before the gods showed up for a house item?</blockquote>The Prophet in EL is standing next to the altar, the same way the quest-givers for the other deities do in Faydwer.  It's a great-looking thing, cool falling-coin animation.

is it in the crafting books or purchasable off the merchants in bucherblock or kelethen?

Of course, can't figure it out in ten minutes, it must be broken. [Removed for Content] you Sony for taking away the easy button! This is Bristlebane we're talking about, I'd be disappointed if it were something straightforward, or making any sense whatsoever. Remember the Plain of Mischief?

I did notice that there are 2 other new NPC's on the docks. One is a girl selling pies who thinks that the return of Bristlebane means they'll be able to reclaim EL, and guy in a Brigand mask who says your to serious.Maybe we're supposed to figure out how to "give him a little time(thyme? pocket watch?)"

Now I didnt have time to actually try this out on the Ts as of yet but one thing peeked my interest:"Those interested in devoting themselves to the Master of Mischief should speak with Tobel Patadash, the self-declared Prophet of Bristlebane at the docks of The Enchanted Lands. Be advised, however, that the Gigglegibber Goblins have their own nonsensical opinion of who they believe the real Prophet of Bristlebane is as well!"Could it be that the real prophet is somehow connected to the Gigglebottom goblins and that the prophet in EL everyone is talking about is a self-proclaimed dud?

He didn't offer me anything either.

Just did the first quest and the alter works fine for me. first Blessing is a buff to avoidance and fighting skills, Miracle is a bit more fun."Anvils of Fizzlethorpe"Summons and drops anvils on up to 8 NPCs within 4 meters, stunning them for 30 seconds or until damaged.

As of right now, I cannot zone without losing half of my buffs. I've zoned 6 times so far and, each time, things go *poof*. It is almost like zoning resets you or something because I was copied over in an illusion form that I clicked off immediately, it comes back upon zoning. </p><p>The illusion resetting isn't the only thing that is happening either. I renounce, check my details and have no god, zone, check again and my god has taken me back. I cannot leave Butcherblock without everything resetting <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Same thing happening here for me, either zoning by using the bell or calling home.......keep losing Bristlebane as my diety.</p><p> And of course losing the quest</p><p>And just to test what Azzikai said, I canceled all my buffs, zoned and "BOOM" their all back again. Someone may want to check that out, me thinks its not supposed to do that <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p><p> I also had renounced Marr when I decided to test out Bristlebane, when I do zone and get my buffs back, my Marr diety pet pops back up along with my buffs, but according to my Persona window, I'm not following Marr any more, so I'm thinking we can safely say it's a bug.</p>

If anyone is having problems with the Bristlebane deity quests, please give me as much information as you can and I will look into the situation promptly. Thanks!- Zaphax</blockquote><p>Thanks Zaphax for listening to us and i have to tell you this is a really good questline. i did the questline 2 times and there are no real bugs. But still i have some things i would change. All the harvestables (ginger root, antonica pumpkin, pile of dirt) are very very rare, usually on this quest only questers can see and harvest them, and everyone can see his personal nodes, but here you can harvest still if you dont have the quest, you can harvest more than you need, and the nodes are really very rare. Bristlebane is very popular and i think on the patchday there will be so many players who will make the quest, so you will need to raise the spawns.</p><p>At some point of the questline you have to scare Tobel and Garby, they run all over EL and will not come back to their spot for a few minutes, please fix this too, they are so often needed to talk within the questline and they really need to stay on their spot.</p><p>Thats a lot to change and i hope some will make it live, espacially the rare nodes. 4 pumpkins within 10 minutes for a whole server really isnt enough.</p>

Lint26

<p>My only bugbear with the questline is for the infiltrating the gigglegibber hideout is that the first gigglegibber which patrols the corridor you spawn in can sometimes be very close to where you zone in meaning you zone in, get seen straight away and end up kicked back out again.  For slower zoning computers like mine this can be very very annoying.</p><p>The rare harvests is also a problem for some (I didn't have much of an issue, but I was using tinkered harvest tracking items) and a lot of people were complaining on PvP test while I was there trying this questline.</p>

The bug I found was in the gigglegibber hideout. The goblin by the safes saw me but I didn't get booted out and was still able to complete the quest.

Hey all, thanks to those of you that provided me with feedback! I just thought I'd share some of the updates I've made to these quests. I've changed the harvestable items so that they are now visible to anyone in your group provided you're on the appropriate stage of the quest. I've also increased the number of the harvestables in some cases and drastically reduced their respawn time. Finally, I've spoken with Tobel and Garby and convinced them not to run nearly as far as they were previously. Hopefully these changes should make this quest series much more enjoyable for any followers of Bristlebane trying to demonstrate their faith. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

I've been having a problem because I took Bristlebane, did the first quest, then renounced him (dumb reason, don't ask me why). Now I can't can't get him back. When I hail Tobel, I just get his comment on how funny the last prank was. I tried getting another deity and renouncing, to see if that would help, but I'm still stuck. Also, while I have no deity, the Prophet of Marr keeps telling me I need to renounce my current deity, but the Tunare prophet works fine. (and yes, I did bug this)
