Hiya fellasI have just returned to EQ2 from a long break.I have just installed the game and its fully patched - The problem accours when i press play. It loads a few sec and suddenly windows is closing the program via DEP (Data Execution Prevention). I have tried to turn off DEP for individual programs (EQ2) but the same problem still happens.Im out of ideas - if anyone knows how to solve this puzzle then i would be more than happy Im running Windows vista btw and im using a GeForce 8800 GTS.- Thanks

There is a way to disable DEP systemwide -- just google it (because I can't remember the exact process). Also, you can right click on the EQ2 shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" (you will need to approve the UAC prompt of course), and that option may help.T

Thanks for your time I tried both solutions but the problem still happens - even if i have disabled DEP in my windows vista. When i have done patching/scanning and after i press the big red play button then loads a few sec and a window is popping upand saying "EQ2 Client application has stopped working"- and thats it Really weird.. but i guess i was mistaken about the DEP system - it had nothing to do with it. But that only makes the problem bigger sincei now have no idea what is causing this crash.

That is if you do not already have the icon setup this way.

i had the exact same problem with the Trial and could solve it.For whatever reason, it happens that the launchpad corrupts some files in the paks folder. SOE Customer support said it can happen with antivirus running or NAT Firewalls (router etc.). However, strangely it where always the same files that got corrupted. What you can try (i think it should work for the release version too), is downloading the fix i uploaded for the trial to get it running:http://files.filefront.com/paksrar/...;/fileinfo.htmljust replace the files with those in your paks folder.
