Iv been searching the forums for hours why my newly installed eq2 wont start on vista. Iv tried all the tips and tricks on the forum but no one seems to have the same problem that i do. My patcher worked fine. Had to run it a few times but finaly i was able to press play. Now the game starts but after a few secons Vista tells me that EQ2 has ended and that vista is searching for a solution to my problem (good luck with that!). I restart and it happens again. The game just wont start. It's not like a crash, the game just wont start because vista tells me it has ended the program.

Okey fine so it wont start. Iv tried it all, run as admin, new direct X (9.0c), compability mode xp sp2. Disabling firewall and anti-virus. Seeing as i cant find any specific info on just this problem i decided it was time to contact support through mail.

But guess what, I cant. The links here on the forums from the TSR-people doesnt work it gives me a "page not found". When i try "email support" through knowledge base i get sent to a page where Im asked to put in $content.username and $content.password to log in. Then I'm asked to validate my e-mail adress. So i do and they tell me "thanks dude". I press the link in the mail but when i try to log in again the same thing happens. over and over again. Live chat wont work either and when i search for an simple amail adress to send a mail with a queston on my problem i find nothing.

So what do i do now? Im running out of ideas to get help here.

Also - did you go through the 8 page stickied thread on EQ2/vista compatiblity? There is a lot of good information there, the game does run with Vista

I got zero help on this forum from any SOE TSR when I had my issue. The players were very helpful... the official TSR's avoided my post like the Plague.

HowEVER, I did get outstanding support once i contacted them. The problem with contacting them via the Knowledge Base is that you have to have them send you the password... my forum password and password I use to log into the game, for example, is apparently NOT the same one I use to log into the Know. Base to email for help. Click on the "Forgot Password" link and have them email you a password (Lord knows WHY this happens but it is what it is). once you have the password (which is emailed within seconds) try to log back in using the password they sent.

This all took me awhile to figure out and you can bet I was frustrated but once I actually got support via email it was pretty good. They kept working with me... I'd try what they suggested and we'd go from there. Email support for me was pretty quick... within a few hours of my email.

Also, I would suggest calling. There is a number for Tech Support in the Know. Base somewhere and I've seen people post it here... it's not easy to find but it's not impossible either.

Sorry I can't be more help but try calling or using the above mentioned email method. It shouldn't be this hard to contact a TSR but once you do, they'll be helpful.

Edited for spelling
