okay this is my latest problem, i'm on qx6700 wiht vista ultimate x64 4 gigs ram....besides the "requesting too much ram" problem I have this problem. When playing the game, the game runs on core 1. After some time it will switch the entire load to core 3 or 4 and lockup completly. I have to restart the computer to get it to respond. This has happened more and more, but it happens more in certain areas (nek and ts happens within 5 minutes). Does anyone have any idea what causes this problem. At this point I'm ready to cancel my account (had since launch SOE so your last chance) and chauck it up to EQ2 is not vista compatable and move on.

I'm with you brother. Not only does it not seem vista compatible, I've been paying $$$ of cash on various upgrades for years now to try and finally get extreme graphics, all the while it never quite gets there. After multiple systems and configurations, one begins to wonder. And they say the issues with dual, quad cores are automatically fixed now, but I'm not sure that I buy it.

Hi,

EQ2 only takes advantage of 1 core. It has only minor dual core support. That is why you are seeing the game only run on 1 core.

The out of memory error I believe is a known issue and they are working on a solution. Although, I do believe MS has some sort of hotfix for this issue that you need to contact them about receiving.

EQ2 does infact work perfectly well on Vista. I am running it on Vista ultimate (32-bit) with no issues and almost all settings turned up to the max. Running a C2D 2.4GHz, 2GB Ram, GeForce 8800GTS.

I seem to remember that too much RAM isn't good either.Nowadays, 2GB is the best amount of RAM AFAIK.FYI, I'm running EQ2 nice and stable on single core, Vista Ultimate 32-bit, 2GB RAM, 6800GT @ 1920x1200.

okay fixed this problem...the problem is not with teh quad core but with the nvidia cards I am using. If you are using a nvidia card and hte game randomly locks up try what I did to fix it. Via the nvidia control panel go to 3d settings. There select the eq2 game and tell the software to force no AA filtering whatsoever. This seems to be a problem until a new driver version comes out.
