Only reason I ask this is this. The other day i was in the nest and go about my normal thing one room at a time.(that one mob stuff is for the birds)

Iam with a warden, bruiser, 2 necros, me, and a brig.

After one of the pulls i post a pars the necro asks how i made the top of the parse. It the proceds to say it was a fluke. I continue to parse 1600 on each mob and each pull. The necro told me to pull more so her AEs could hit more mobs. Fair enough i said. 2nd floor i ran down the whole hallway going to the 2nd name pull everything parse 1800 never lost agro.

The necro then says that she didnt know sks were tanks and i did good.(hot dam i guess)

So i ask you guys whats the best thing someone has told ya.

End zone parse was me at 1200 and necro at 900

That would probably be "WOW!" after a zerker had a bad pull and got a whole room of heroics, died pretty fast and left me to pick the aggro up. I slaughtered em all (With a little help from the warlock), and the whole group went "Wow!". Me and the zerker were in mastercrafted both of us. Hehe. the zerker actually sent me a tell a few days later on his SK and wanted some pointers on how to do that crazy [Removed for Content]. Other things I keep hearing but mostly sum up to poor tanks is that I tank better than zerkers and guardians. I mean, both of those should be capable of locking down aggro just as well as me...

One time i was sitting on the nek forrest docks wating for the boat to butcherblock mtns when a fabled out zerker. with about 8,400 hp, runs up to me.

He doesnt say anything to me, i assume hes just waitng for the same boat i am.

a few seconds later i hear in the 60-69 channel "do shadowknights get a hitpoint buff or something? theres this sk on the docks with 8,836 hp and about 670 stamina and hes only got legendary gear, what the [Removed for Content]?"

i reply, in the channel, that they get a 54 stamina group buff thats it 8=D

Thats the best comment ive ever heard in almost 3 years with my sk 8=)

Best compliment is a simple one that Ive heard many times..... "omg shes still alive?!?!?!" Thats usually after some unamed tank does a stupid pull and hollers for everyone to run, at which time Ill grab agro real fast to sacrafice myself while they book it.... funny thing is, 9 times out 10 when the group comes back... they find all the mobs laying dead at my bruised and battered feet.

That or the common comment I always get halfway thru a raid... "yo SK.. learn some Fing agro control!!!" Sure its ment as a insult, but I see the silver linning in things. If the big bad guardian is frustrated cause I keep striping agro.. then I must be kicking some booty

Well, I've been told that I've renewed someone's faith in SK's again after a long leveling session. Even been told by a templar that we've got some neat tricks so we're not totally useless (I FDed him a few times when I pulled a few too many, happily only ending in my death). Those are the few that stand out =).

I have had the one with a Zerker tanking a zone with an assassin hate transfer on her and I still stripped aggro off her and she's was like quit using DM. Told her I am not and then showed her a DM fight... she shut up. *It was funny cuz the assassin was popping 1500-2k dps and I still took aggro* *Also out dpsing her in raids all the time by 200-600 zonewide.* I find the best compliments is ripping aggro off those who have a transfer on them, ie: scout, Moderate, Amends etc and still ripping it off them by the amount of damage we do. It's fun to teach them that SK's have more tricks up there sleeve's than what they expect. My favorite compliment is from an illusionist, and a ranger friend of mine who said: You are 100 times the tank than the pally that we normally group with. Must be the armor *grin*

In the 60-69 channel on Unrest, there was a conversation about the lack of raid viability of SK's and someone I didn't remember or know said I was the best instance tank he had grouped with. Definately a nice ego boost. My guildies also like me best for instance runs and what not, even though the SK is no longer my main. The real key and what can give you the edge in instances over other tanks is Death March. When pulling a whole room, the stun and interrupt immunity, on top of the massive casting speed, int, and DPS boost is what makes things fun for everyone.

Oh let's see. . . . .

Level 19 in Antonica, tanking for a scarecrow grind group on my female high elf crusader. I dinged 20 and everyone went "Gratz!" And then they saw that I didn't become a paladin, and then came the cries of "SK? What the [fudgesicles]!!!!" This was. . .oh, November 2004, I think. Yeah, I made the crazy run BACK through Nek Forest when it was still a pain just so I could surprise people in Antonica.

Mid 30s in EL. Some troll SK had looted an adept 1 that he already had (back when having all Ad1's was somethign to brag about), so he offered to give it away in OOC. I needed it and met up with him. 1st thing he said: "You're too pretty to be an SK."

Mid 60's in SoS: "My main's a raid-geared Guardian, and I gotta say you've really impressed me. You're simply a great tank. You pace things well, pull well, don't panic when adds come, and you hold aggro like it's nobody's business. I didn't realize SK's could do so well."

I liked all of those enough that they've stuck with me.

Zerker for example has only 1 on 30 seconds, and the damage spreads from 300-1200 or whatever, the other is on 1 minute timer and also has such a damage-spread. Insolent gibe is on 3 minutes, and if you took the end-ability that adds +5 meters to all AoEs then it has 20m and you would pull adds like crazy with it .. lol.

And guards should be really worse at AoE aggro, they have to switch targets if they get adds, while we mostly just have to make some more AoEs to grab the adds

One of the best compliments I had was actually a moment of silence.

I was in one of two raids forming up on top of Labs, whiling the time away by killing the trash mobs. Each of the two raids were trying to pull the trash first in a friendly, bantering kind of way, when a necro in the other raid starting challenging people to duels. He was quite well specced and after each duel he proceeded to tell everyone how he had beat them that time. It turned out that this necro was a guy who had questioned my ability to MT in an Unrest group two days earlier and the group broke up, wasting everyone's time. Basically, he was a prima donna who thought he knew best. He challenged me to prove his point (/grin).

I quickly got him down, almost to the point where the duel would be finished, when I delivered the coup de grace - I kicked him off the roof and killed him. I had barely got into the yellow. LOL. I quickly jumped down and asked a guildy to follow me and rez him while I killed all the wandering adds. He stood up, climbed back up onto Labs, stopped challenging people and never said another word.

All our raid force thought it was hilarious and were all sending grats. It was great.

Healer to group last night in Unrest

"Let the SK tank instead of the zerker. SK is easier to keep up."

Short and sweet, but it made me happy.

Best one for me so far, after hacking our way to Sothis at warp 9 for a pile of Hoo'Loh's updates:"Nice tanking there, templar." (My main is a 70/100 Templar, and everyone in the confederation of guilds that I hunt/raid with calls me by that name, no matter what alt I'm playing at the time. I have to admit to a few early pre-60 group wipes that I caused by healing hotkey reflexes...)

IVe always held onto SoE's promise to amke all tank classes tank equally as well, just in different ways. so Ive completely spec'ed for Tanking, and in so lost form seriosu DPS. However I have almost always tanked over a guardian or zerker when it came to grouping, and have always been MT or OT when it came to raids.

Im close friends with my guild leader, as we know each other IRL. Last night we where in MMIS and the MT was de-leveled and owned within the first few seconds of the first. It jumped to the assassin in his group, but was quickly picked up by me. Without skiping a beat, I was able to hold agro for the mainder of the fight and successful take down the mob.

We normally dont ahve problems with MMIS, but last ngiht we had some new recruits that made it a bit challanging. My RL guild leading friend has always known my tanking abilities, but last night one thing stuck out above all else. "Nice Pick up!".

Ive got tons of other stories about how Ive pulled of some seirously crazy things, and how Ive trolled around the Mistmoore server creating great memories for other people, and trying to spread the word the SK's can do anything.

"You rock...you should get a raiding guild."After I outparsed both a 70 Wizzy and Bruiser (some fabled, some legendary) while tanking the Nest."Don't worry about those slackers, Gwar, you tank better than most raiders I run with."60-69 Channel during a discussion about SK raid viability."Veeeeeerrrry nice."Bystander after watching me solo Aosoth the Crone (66 heroic ^^^ in LP) at 65."You got da skillz!"60-69 channel during a debate on how much skill plays into tanking.Just a few of my favorites. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img mce_tsrc=" />
