Thats so strange @_@Are you having internet connection problems that are causing the timeout half?

The fix i found to this is kind of ghetto but it works. go in to your eq2folder and use the everquest2.exe (this is the one that says client application as a description) don't use eq2.exe as it will load the patcher that for some reason is timing out.

actually the way i understand it (Because i normally do this to start eq2), the everquest2.exe is what you use to just start the game up. when you start it up you go through all the little logos and then instead of going straight to character select it gives you a login window. try logging in through that (asuming your info works properly) and you should be in game. i had this issue a while back and since then i have found it easier to start the game that way than to go through the patcher, unless there was an update. also, if you use 2 accounts, you can type /quit and it brings you back to the login screen, and you can be back in game on your other toon before the other one actually logs out.

It maybe that proxy is setup in his Internet Explorer settings, but more likely he has either stale or corrupted dns cache. I would not rule out malware infections, regardless on whether this person feels other wise.</p>

Might want to try and contact Live Chat concerning this, you can get to it via the Search the Knowledge Base link, then the chat tab. Their hours are Mon-Fri 10 AM to 7 PM pacific - adjust times to match you time zone. Techs seem to be light lately and they don;t handle possible account issue on a open forum
