Hi everyonePlease can someone help - I got a new GC hoping this would be a nice addition to my current spec and also enable me to run a top spec in raids without the lag - To my disappointment I tried high quality during raid and it was lag city - I tried balanced it was better but not really playable so back down to High performance I upgraded from a Geforce 7900 GTX 256mb to the followingBFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail - This is dx10 compatible on Vista but I have XP so running on Dx9c The rest of my setup is below - Memory, Processor and MBGeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) Abit KN9 nForce Ultra (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.00GHz (Socket AM2) - OEM I spoke to a guy in raid and he has a 3500 AMD single, 2GB memory and a 6800 GTS and he can run at high quality on a raid so whats that all aboutOh yeah and I have an 8mb internet connection which in my area gives me about 6mb connectionCould it be DDR2 does not run well with GDDR3? or would that not make a differnece?I checked processes during raid and nothing else besides EQ2 was using CPU that would cause alarm - I ran my performance software and it said while EQ2 is running I was using 1.5gb of RAM leaving on 0.5gb as free ram Is that a lot of ram being used to run eq2 or is that pretty normal for a game like eq2?I can even use the performance software to give eq2 additional RAM tol use which I did and made little difference?Any help on this would be great as I am not hugely technical and I feel like I spent £200 for nothing ThanksRaven

I have never tried to run HQ graphics during a raid and always keep mine on High Performance.

Best thing I could suggest is trying to fiddle with the graphics settings turning up certain qualities while turning down others for a custom feel. Don't know what they are off hand, but there are some settings that will eat up alot of processing power lagging you out.

Have a 3.2 gig Pentium 4, 2 gigs of SDRAM, 256mb ATI Radeon 9800 pro with 40 gigs of free HD space.

It's your processor you have a dual core, see eq2 doesn't use dual cores it will only use 1 core so your 3800x2 chip runs like a single core 1900 chip because it's only making use of the single core.

There are 2 options, 1 you can easily add the top amd single core chip which is a 4000+ and runs around 60 bucks, or you can get the speed of a 3000 chip by going with the 6000+ which is a dual core chip (I have the 6000 and it runs nice) they are around 160 bucks as of present. The biggest problem with the 6000+ is the 125watts of generated heat they put out, you need a really efficent cooling system for your case and a really good heat sink fan (I tired 2 different fans and wound up going water cooling)

So there is your weakspot. We have all been requesting that the dev's fix it so it will run dual core again however it still hasn't been implemented. Dual cores when enabled would increase the client speed over time, so your 3 second cast would be like 1, it was like playing eq2 in fast forward.

edit, you can also try to disable shadows since that chews a lot of cpu cycles, the shadows aren't calculated on the video card.
