well i have played wow for quite sometime now its been fun gotten 2 70's out of it and a 60 laying around. but the game has died everything is a gring and one of my rl friends said i should come play eq 2 because they are bringing back kunark so he reactivated his account so i figured why not. so i am stuck between 2 classes sk and pally. this could have gone one ither forum i suppose but i was on sk at the time so why not. i have a 70 pally in wow and loved it combat toss myself a heal here and there it was fun, i was wondering how eq pallys compare. and the sk just seems bad a$$. ive alwayse enjoyed hybrid classes and sk's seem like a blast but i still wonder about the paladin. so if some one can lend me some insight on both classes and if some one can compare eq pally to wow's that would be great.

Thanks for the feed back in advance.

If I turn on reaver, I heal more most of the time so sks do heal, only they are selfish about it and pretty much only heal themselves, with the exception of the blessing lifetap proc. Pallies can heal others as well. That is once difference. the other is that pallies are more melee based than the sk, and they have amends. a 41% (?) hate siphon they put on one of their group members. Quite neat. Its of popular opinion that the sks have more dps than the pallies.

now when you say pally is more combat related how little combat does a sk do because i like the idea of combat magic. but i dont want to have a caster with heavy armor?

Xdeehoc wrote:

now when you say pally is more combat related how little combat does a sk do because i like the idea of combat magic. but i dont want to have a caster with heavy armor?

approximately 2/3rds of the sk dps comes from spells, whereas (if Im not mistaken) 1/3rd comes from spells for the pally.

so you still combat and as far as groups go are you concidered a dps or a tank for leveling as a sk. because i like the sk idea it seems fun good dmg fighter. but i would like to know what im in for.

If guardian shows up, they'll be the tank.

Xdeehoc wrote:
well thanks alot man i appreciate the help. ill be rolling a sk i suppose it seems really fun. thanks again.
Yeah, it really is a very fun class. As one of our new guildies have been saying when we group up and beat out some instances "Sks just keeps going". Which is probably very true. Not to mention, most of us seem to be on the slightly crazy side of things and enjoy pulling a few heroics at a time just to make the healers work a bit.

Personaly i love my toon. The only worthwile toon i have is my 70sk on venekor. Once you learn the in and outs of the class we are more than a force to be seen on the battle field.

I came from WoW and a 70 paladin and shaman. Grind out for me. Shadowknights are so amazing for staying power, combat power and we can tank to boot? Whoodah thunk it? A lot of times (since I leveled my WoW paladin as Protection spec) I would be tanking and sincerely worried about the prospects of my survival. As an SK? Nope. I solo pull 3-4 mobs my own level and come out alive. I'm so looking forward to raiding with this guy and making the healers sweat on my behalf. SKs are powerhouses...with style. The class is a blast to play.
