Game exit very long

Ok I searched the forums but only found a 2005 section of bickering and name calling on this so asking now.Until a few patches ago I could click exit to desktop the game would do its 20 secs then a few later you would be on the desktop. Now this can takes a min or so for the game to shut down.Just hitting exit without camping takes as long as camping and exit to desktop now when in past it used to be fast now in the min or so range.Its occured on two diff systems. Athlon 3200 3gb ram 7900GS on XP Pro   and current E6600 4 GB 8800 GTS SLI on XP PRO 64Any clues to what has changed in game to make this suddenly go longer (3 patches i think) ?  Thanks

This can occur for a few reasons, but the most likely is that it has to do with virtual memory.Virtual memory, incase you do not allready know, is an area of your hard drive that your system uses just like it uses RAM.  RAM is your systems temporary memory, and it works very fast.  It is an isolated part of your computer, that holds information until the system is turned off, and transfers information very quickly between itself and the processor.  The only problem that RAM has when working with a system is that sometimes it does not have enough space.  So, the system creates an area that works a lot like RAM, but on a much slower area of the system, the long term memory.So, the system makes all this extra space in the long term memory, which is a lot slower than normal RAM memory, and that virtual memory has to be unloaded every time a program ends, that was using that virtual memory.The only few ways to fix this problem is to :1) Run your game on a lower graphics setting2) Purchase more RAM from an electronics store3) Delete any TSR programs (Terminate and stay resident), like icons on your desktop, or short cuts, or programs that start up when your computer is activated4) Decrease the size of your virtual memory, but this will result in slower gameplay5) Ensure that you are using the ">2GB memory" fix, if your system has 1GB or more memory, <a rel="nofollow" href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=240&topic_id=364955" target="_blank">Click here for that link</a>6) Make sure that your hard drive that holds the game, <b><u>and/or</u></b>, the hard drive containing your operating system, has at least 30% space freeThat is pretty much all.  This issue probabbly popped up because of the new expansion, and just like any other system out there, the computer has a stress point where it begins to slow down in certian areas.The next area that it will slow down in, is graphical processing or data processing, so you may wish to plan your computer purchases accordingly.I hope that helped!Karatta
