TMITrying to locate good information is difficult around here. It seems I find everything I'm not looking for and nothing of what I need right now lol. There is too much information for a newbie to absorb. My main problem arises from the following experience I have as a new player...Neriak / Darklight WoodWhen I first logged into EQII about a week ago, I created a character in Neriak. I was always fond of the place and like the Dark Elves. Here I was in Darklight Wood. Right now, that Shadowknight has leveled too quickly, and is slowing down to let armor sell on the Broker. The reason is, Darklight wood is what I expected in my game play. It is a nice progression of levels through intense questing, in an area that not only improves my character quickly in combat, but also in the general and resource gathering skills necessary for crafting. As I move further from Neriak area, I see higher mobs up to level 20 Epic so far, and still have a ton of quests to do yet in the area. This smooth progression from one end of the zone to the other means I have...not yet left the zone. The character is level 16, with associated crafting level at the forge, and making good money, enough to re-equip completely already.Qeynos AreaDouble you tee eff.I can't figure the place out. I've had to ask way too many questions in /ooc. My light characters are stuck at nearly level 10 or little more, Oakmyst Wood being the only place I've gone that provided any return on resources worthy of discussion. And I have NO idea where to go and what to do next. There is no uniform progression once in Qeynos. I've visited and discovered 10 different zones in the area (at least) including Antonica, and am left wondering if there is a good side to the game at all. At any rate, if anyone has a GOOD link to hunting and gathering Qeynos area, please feel free to add it to this thread...I sure could use it.

Yeah... thats old VS new content:

Neriak is newer so its more stream lined...

I suggest you take your character out into Antonica and fight out there with your Q character. You can get there from a bell or by going through North or South Qeynos to get there. Should be creatures level 8 through 20ish in there. Somewhat sporatically placed, but the further east you go the higher the creatures get.

At level 8 or so (my smallest character in Qeynos), which entrance would be best used to find the appropriate content, if I were to go there? And is there level appropriate questing at that location? And by the way, thanks for your response...

Either entrance should work...

I dont really remember where to get quests (Its been a while since I was a low level in Qeynos) But I know that some good low level places to fight are the gnolls outside of North Qeynos... (under the tree) and some of the snakes and rats that are randomly despersed.

If you haven't done so, try also talking to the NPC that is your racial mentor. He's usually near the place where you appear in your starting zone in Qeynos. He will start you on a line of quests that should take you to your mid teen levels easily

Perhaps the Qeynos Districts Timeline solo guide on eq2.wikia.com might help.eq2.wikia.com together with eq2map is good to have if you want to make your adventuring a bit easier, personally I use the eq2.wikia.com guides to find out where I can find quests, if I get stuck I use it as a walkthrough, eq2maps is very useful if the mobs/npc seem to be hiding somewhere...EQ2Map is a mod for your ingame map. Can be found here.

For me at level 10 the next step is find a mariners bell and take it to the caves, you can quest there till level 14-16. Then if groups are available or you make one then go to (BB) Black Burrow to beat on some gnolls.

After that you can go to (SH) Stormhold for groups and then (TS) thundering steepes for solo quests or groups.

There's plenty to do in Antonica. It might seem empty space but it can keep you busy up until around level 20ish, visits to the caves mixed in. Some of the quests come from people in the city and some around Antonica. The Farmhouse west of North Qeynos and other NPCs in that area for instance.

Before that Oakmyst Forest and Forest Ruins can level you up to around 10 or 11 I seem to recall.

If you want to roll a good character try to roll a race that will start in Kelethin. That starting area is also really nice and far more linear. You don't have to run all over the place looking for quest givers.

Qeynos and Freeport in all sense are the Cities of Norrath. Huge multidistrict areas and i can see how they can be confusing. The stuff is there but like all cities not quite linear.Neriak and kelethin (and the one in ROK) are more smaller cities more compact and linear then the main cities, although not as grand in scale. If you feel overwhelmed in freeport or qeynos then neriak and kelethin is easier to follow.

Thanks all, I'm starting to get the hang of it out there. As to Kelethin, don't have the expansion yet. Not sure it fits atm
