Hello, I've a pretty weird issue.I got EQ2 "all in one" download version, installed it and all went ok. When I decided to play an Arasai, it said it had to download some additional files. Program restarted and since then in the character selection window I see a black screen with only the names of my characters and the small faces on the right. No background, no big character model in the middle. All the rest works fine, just that big black hole (and it makes character customizations pretty difficult!)Any idea?Thank you in advance.

This is very likely an issue with a corrupted download or a small area on the hard drive that may have just a few bad bytes.Try to do a full system scan, and if that does not work, you may need to reinstall - but before you do a full reinstall, try running scan disk on your system to check for any hard drive errors. To do this, get into a folder where you can view your Operating Systems hard drive, and right click it, and then click properties. Then go to the tools tab, and for windows XP click "check for errors" and for windows Vista click "check now" under the error checking heading.Once you are in that program, be sure that the option to "auto fix problems" is checked, somewhere in the options for that scan. Then start the scan! Do the same for the drive that holds your Everquest 2 game if it is on a different drive, and see the report once they complete, and look to see if there are ANY "lost clusters/sectors" or "bad clusters/sectors". This will mean that you have an area on the hard drive that is not working right. Your system will probabbly fix itself once that occurs, and then attempt a full system scan again in the case that there were bad/lost clusters/sectors.Like I said before, if that does not work, attempt a reinstall. If the problem still shows up, then you may need to grab files from someone else.If your problem shows back up, but not in that same zone or menu, then you may have more serious computer problems that will require more tech support. Dont fear! We'll help Karatta

I had exactly the same problem, for me simply deleting the contents of the cache and logincache-eu folders solved the problem

Hadnt even known that there was a cache for the patch downloader. Definatly try this option before you do a full reinstall.Could you elaborate more on how to do that Ostler?

I don't believe there is any way to remove the cache files other than manually deleting them. Just go into your Everquest2 folder, which by default should be in ..Program Files/Sony, there are just 2 folders inside the main Everquest2 folder...one called 'cache' the other 'logincache-eu', I assume there could be a 'logincache-us' too if you use the US servers...just open them up and delete the contents. I had seen this used as a solution for other problems before, so gave it a try...
