You can use anything from MS Paint to PhotoShop or Fireworks and make a great sig. You just have to know what you can and can't do with your program of choice, and not be afraid of experimenting with new techniques.

Just remember, everybody is crap when they first start out...I know I was! (Some might say I'm still crap, but to each his own, LOL.) It takes patience, persistence, and lots of practice...you'll get there.

What she said. It may be of interest to note that I use the Macromedia Suite 8 exclusively for my work, and that includes Fireworks, Flash, Dreamworks, etc.

Yeah, Seagoat's still crap. (I kid I kid...!! /genuflect) I've seen great sigs come from Fireworks. Oddly enough, I've even seen people do decent ones using MS Paint. Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro aren't the only programs out there and if you're comfortable enough with Fireworks, then you'll do just fine.

By NO means, is this a great great sig, but I decided to see what I could do last night w/ a demo copy of fireworks and a tiny bit of advice from my hubby (who has done layout work w/ other programs). I'm really happy with how it turned out for my absolute first attempt at a sig.

I used three layers, first for the beakers/test-tubes, second for the Gnome-girl and third for the text. I might go back & play with the background to give the bottles a bit of color if I get the time.

I'm at 988 fonts right now, but I did just uninstall a bunch of bitmap fonts last night. (I figured it would be easier to find them if I kept them in their own folder and loaded them as necessary -- plus it frees up room for more swirly stuff!!)

As for my brush count, I'm about to break 3,150.

HAHAHAH! YAY! Someone is worse than me! By about 1 font, but that counts, right? I will say, though, that's a ton of brushes. How do you keep them all organized?

With PSP, you can organize them into subfolders. I have a lot of different categories, like Flourishes, Flowers, Stars, Tech, Grunge, Text...things like that. It's pretty easy to find what I'm looking for that way.

In case that fails, note the demo copy... I have 30 days (29 left) to play then I'm too poor to play w/o another demo program. /vows not to read any more of the fantasitc tutorials on this site.
