I am a longtime player for EQ2 and longtime reader of the forums.  I can also appreciate math but unfortunatly I do not understand how to calculate everything that that goes into Maximizing DPS, I read, take advice, and change stuff like AA weapons poisions ect...  All that I know is that I have always gotten excellent advice by reading the forums and implementing new tactics, and because of poeple here I have always had Great DPS.  Now that I have bared my ignorance I would like some straight answers...  Are the New Changes to DW going to [Removed for Content] my swashy if I dual weild?  I am spec'd for AGI / STR and Style / Debuff, maxed out AA. Good Gear and Nearly all master spells.  Not wanting to turn this into a Spec war, just wanting to know if SOE is gonna screw up my class.  Will I have to make drastic changes or suffer from another ill placed Nerfbat??  Currently using windrazor and adamatine dragonfang. as weapons.

Honestly, the true impact of the changes won't be known till after it is live and people have a chance to experiment

There is no 'bottom line' definitive answer to this question, you'll just have to parse extensively with both setups and find out for yourself. So many factors affect your dps including your skill and playstyle, grou buffs, your raid setup, their skill and playstyle. Your weapon choice also makes a difference, but even the math with that isn't going to give you the answer you're looking for. The most ideal DW combo I can think of for str/agi would be the bisected saber/soulfire sabre. They will both become a 5.3 delay with the proc rates of 4.0 weapons (as far as I know). Comparing this to Axe of Natural Order with str/wis will be very difficult, considering all the weapons mentioned have HUGE spread ratios, and your dps is based on a % chance to inflict critical damage or proc damage, nothing but extensive parsing with both setups is going to give you the answer sir.

<p>We will just have to wait and see what happens, as posted above nothing is for sure until it goes live. </p><p>You can use /testcopy add and get some idea on the test server with your character but I wouldn't do this until after GU38 hits test. They will be changing proc calculations, adding the PRIMARY flag (this is coming, not 100% on if it's with GU38 or not) to certain weapons that they don't want you to be able to equip in offhand. I am sure they will also have other changes that will probably impact DW.</p><p>One thing to remember is that they did say they wanted the damage you could do with DW to remain relativly the same as it was before the change. If they are able to accomplish that you shouldn't notice any change one way or the other. You will just have to experiment yourself on test after GU38 hits it and see what happens, I would not take any results you get from testing on the test servers to be 100% accurate as things can change drastically before release to live.</p>

<p>For those of us currently using 1h, which is most of us, I wouldn't recommend a respec unless you just hate having 1 weapon.</p><p>For me, even the best possible DW combos are still inferior to 1h.</p>

I've found that I get absolutely insane bursts of dps w/ dual wield.  Short 10-15 second fights can see me parsing 3k+.  But for longer fights when you're waiting for CA's to refresh and relying on auto attack, fencing is still better, IMO.

All things being equal, even if DW ended up being better on a single target mob, the 1h/double attack line will always give better hurricane damage. That constant and consistent aoe damage is what our class is known for and I would always build my character around that.
