Greetings,

I am not exactly sure which forum I should be putting this in but this one seems as good as any.

Anyway, our guild recently ventured into Emerald Halls so try out the new persistent instance. Due to the nature or certain encounters and the need for certain classes in raid we had to switch around a few players on to alts to get what we needed. We agreed with these players that they could leave their main characters outside and zone them in if any loot they needed dropped. We have done this many times in the past and has gotten us out of a few jams. (We just have to be careful with the new smart loot system as an item wont drop if there isn;t a person of that class in raid that needs it)

Anyway, we killed Mistress of the Veil but unfortunately the tank (that's me) got teleported behind the invisible wall to floor two just as the death blow was stcuk on the mob. The chest dropped in the invisible wall. I petitioned the chest and we moved on. A GM came back to us quite quickly and imformed us of the contents of the chest. It was a rubbish 1-hander which was bid on by two people and won by one of the guys who happened to be playing an alt. To my surprise, the GM would not assign the loot to this character as he was not in raid for the kill. I explained that it was a the main character of one of the people in raid but I was told that GMs would not assign loot to players that were not involved in the kill.

My issue is, it is not against SOE rules to log in alt players to receive loot. It is not even against SOE rules to sell loot rights to the item if we had chosen to do so. The chest dropping in a bugged location was out of our control. Surely we should be allowed to do with the loot what we like so long as it is not against SOE rules. The GM in question advised me that if I wanted the policy changed I should post here. I had given reference numbers of previous incidents where this had happened and the loot WAS assigned to players not in zone. I guess I got a few newbie GMs in trouble - doh! (sorry guys)

What do you guys think? If we work to kill a mob are we not entitled to decide where the loot goes? It is not that big of a deal since the item was useless anyway aITEM -832695155 372121152:Braid of Golden Hair/a

Thank you for your time

Muraha

Haha, funny story. But hey, they are GM's, you can't do anything about it.

It's more or less a discretionary thing for them. The whole idea of NoTrade items is that you gain by experiencing, not by purchasing. They're policy does, indeed, permit you to do practically anything with the loot. However in this case, you're asking them to participate in what I would imagine to be an "unintended" effect, which they are not obligated to do. As they are GMs, they are not required to bend to your word, and would be more inclined to operate under the intended scenario.. people on the raid are the ones eligible for loot.I don't rightly know what sort of policy change you're looking for here. Realistically, I think what we should be asking for is that they do away with the bug that makes chests spawn near players, the chest should always spawn where the mob died, rightfully. But that said, like I said... Once you involve a GM in the situation, you're probably going to be stuck with, while unwritten, implied ideas and scenarios.. which for no trade items, means someone in the raid.
