So, I have a new system. I don't have the DirectX info yet but I thought I would throw this out to see if anyone knew the solution offhand. When I'm in Balanced profile in game, it seems to run fine although I haven't had much time with it yet. But when I switch to Extreme Quality and run, my character runs normally for a second, stutters for a quarter of a second, then moves forward faster than normal for a quarter of a second, then runs normally for a second and this repeats.

Any hints? Is the AMD dual core optimizer still needed nowadays?

AMD64 x2 5600+ nForce chipset Geforce 7900 GT 3GB DDR2-5300 Vista Home Premium 32bit

My older system with much slower Intel Pentium-D, 2GB DDR2-4200, XP Home, and same video card did not have this problem.

Thanks

So far through tons of reading, it seems that I'm not the only one having this problem but I've seen no direct resolutions to the problem. The suggestions so far are:

- Turn off Complex Shaders(Why? My slower system did not have to do this)

- Install the AMD dual core optimizer. (This was from older posts. Is this still an issue with the newer AMD chips?)

- Turn on vsync and triple buffering on the client (Easy enough to try)

I should also note that I'm playing in fullscreen in 16xx X 10xx resolution on a LG 24" widescreen LCD if that helps.

Those settings are for CRT based monitor's and you have an LCD Flat Panel. You should also try setting your Windows desktop and in-game screen resolution to the native setting of 1920 x 1200 instead of the 1680 x 1050 setting, if that is what the LG comes as. My Dell 24" comes default of 1920 x 1200 resolution.

Report back with your findings.

I couldn't find anything on the AMD web site. But, I went ahead and installed the dual core optimizer and it fixed the stutter issue. I still had a couple graphic glitches that occured but that was while I was trying other things so hopefully all is well now.
