My way: check resists, especially against caster mobs. Take your time to solo a mob, it's not a race. Don't debuff. Don't use DOTs, Apocalypse would be an exception, coz it does big enough damage compared to the risk. Although I would not use it when they are arrow ups. Always have at least a stun ready before nuking.... Oh, there's no such thing as a true-born solo'r. You die, mend up and try again, rince and repeat.

X'haviz is a caster and you can't get max range to him unless you fall down the lift. Him and the other last name have boatloads of HP - other than our roots we have almost zero crowd control. The second to last name seems to be much more resistant to roots as well, they never hold, even when I'm not casting, and yes, my roots are M1 with a maxed subjugation. You will probably need to spec battlemage to really be able to do it, as well as protections on the warlock tree - but I wouldn't waste the AA's. I'd say maybe once kunark came out and we had alternate AA profiles, but you'll be leveling up and it will grey out nest anyways. In another words, its not worth it to solo the whole nest as a warlock, IMO. You can easily get the first 3 named or so and the trash all melts pretty easily. agressiv

Gotta switch out to power proc gear - Use vaults hat + xhaviz gown. Might want to grab some power potions as well. Use Vullian Nullification if they get near you and then root and back up. Maximize your use of focused casting as well. Don't forget to use Null Caress all the time when you can, its got a great snare. If Nullmail triggers, root them until its back up again. Heck my procs from my gear alone do a decent amount of damage just from waiting on my own power. Just gotta be careful using both roots since the group root uses a ton of power. Above all you have to be patient. If you dont like dying just yell and hop on a wall before you try again. I dont like to solo as a warlock though, so its much easier to two-box most of nest - and even then I'll switch my warlock out to my warden for the last two named because its much easier with the added heals. agressiv

I clear everything in the zone before the last two named, that way null caress can't pull any adds. You could fall down to the lower floor but you'll take a decent amount of damage assuming you dont have some safe fall item. Xhaviz seems to be weaker if you kill everyone (his pet is, and his speech is different if you clear the zone) But yeah, if you solo, there is no reason to have your main single-target root at ad1. Even with the nerfs its still our bread and butter root. If the M1 isn't available, the acrylias are cheap - just get an AD3. SK with reaver can probably solo the whole zone anyways, we'd just be there to speed things up. Never tried it with another caster, but it would be too chaotic and I'm just there to farm masters rather than try new and unique things Two-boxing two casters would be pretty nuts, but once my illusionist gets higher I might try it, but with a full arsenal of crowd control it would probably be fairly trivial yeah. I just dont think he'll hit 70 before RoK anyways since I'm not playing that character that much. agressiv

Resists, resists, resists....

Get your resists up as high as you can, especially noxious for the Nest. If they can't touch you and you resist their casts, their done. If you have to, buy the handcrafted jewelry or better yet, the EoF collection rewards have excellent resists. Well worth the plat invested for the hard to find sparklies IMO.

Remove ALL gear that contains a damage proc as it will increase the chances of your roots breaking. If you have power proc items, equip those. Don't use dots or Corrupt Gift. You want full control of when the target takes damage so DD spells only. I use Aura of Nihility depending on the fight.

I can solo the Nest up to the last named, haven't really tried the last guy more than a handful of times, but I'm sure I could do it with a little practice. I'll give it a go tonight just for $h!t$ and giggles.

Also some don't know you can double-root, but keep in mind, your group root will eat power, and fast if you use it a lot. The advantage to double-rooting is if one breaks the other holds, usually, to give you time to reapply.
