A search shows some posts that state its supposed to be in the recipe book #4 (for LU 32). But I'm still seeing it show up as a lvl 3 spell in my recipe list.

Don't even try to make sense out of recipe levels in Tier 1.

The problem you report (of recipes being listed at a certain level on various websites and at another level in the game) will happen occasionally all the way up to L70. My sage was trying to make a T5 spell yesterday called "Winter's Bite." It was listed on one of the comprehensive spell lists that I use as a reference, but he had no recipe for the spell despite having scribed every recipe available. I Googled and skimmed and read and shouted for help in game and finally got the answer from another player that "Winter's Bite" was changed to "Solar Burn" (a spell I already have in my recipe book) long ago.

Other examples abound. Evade is listed as a 4th, 5th, or 6th level scout spell depending upon which site you consult. Inferno is listed as a 44th level spell on a fairly accurate site but appears in game as a 42nd level spell.

Get used to these disparities. It's part of playing a dynamic game.

But don't even try to make sense of the T1 spells. They are a complete mess. Once you hit T2, everything starts to make sense. You will learn L12 recipes at L12--and will be unable to learn any L13 recipes until you reach that level. But in T1, there are lots of L1-L4 spells that you won't learn until L5. Moreover, you'll know some spells higher than L3 at L2.

It's bewildering and pointless, but you can burn through it so quickly that I doubt Domino considers cleaning it up a high priority.

P.S. Be aware that once you reach L50, funky things start to happen with your recipes based on the addition of expansions. You'll be able to craft at least a level ahead of your current level (sometimes several levels ahead) all the way through T7. This has to do with the incorporation of new content, but I don't pretend to understand the details as well as those who lived through the expansions.
