I get these ... static? yellow lines whenever i play a game. Maybe flicker is the right word? Anyone know the problem? It's hard to explain, but it's like when you get static with a old TV, instead it's a few big yellow lines that is infinite that go up and come back from the bottom. Bleh. I need to stop writing because i'm just making it more complicated. anyways, any help is appreciated. thanks.

Are you running a CRT monitor? (not an LCD monitor, like a TV made in the last 40 years, but not the recent 10. The ones that emit EM radiation.)If so, then you may need to purchase a new monitor. Those lines could be a sign of wear on an old monitor, and infact the technical term is "Electromagnetic Risidual Discharge". This occurs from a few sources, like if a magnet was too close to a CRT montior, which would cause the pixels in the front of the monitor to be perminantly directed to a single color. This problem can be solved by giving the monitor a "refresh", which would be built into the monitor. If it is not built in, then you cannot get it done. The only other option would be to have the CRT replaced by a technician, and that would probabbly be more costly than buying a new monitor. This could also be caused by years of use. CRT monitors are well known for only having a 5-15 year life span depending on when they were built. Older monitors went bad very quickly, within 2-6 years. Monitors in old arcade games and old computers would have burned in images after it had been set in the same pattern or on the same screen for too long without change. Infact, that is initially what screen savers were made for! To "save" your screen from ERD. Now adays they are just ment to keep what you are viewing hidden from prying eyes. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />If this is caused by another problem, such as a damaged video card, or even a montior that does not have a correct horizontal refresh setting, then you may need more tech support. If this problem does not occur in any other program or game, then it may be an issue with the game itself.Post a DXDiag (check the forums on how to do that) info about your system below if the above post diddnt solve your problem, and we'll help ya out.

<div>Good info there,.. and it very well might be the monitor has aged or had some outside influence to cause this. But this would present itself 'all the time' normally if a pixel had permenantly changed.</div><div>I can only offer the recommendation to check your power supply. A bad or failing power supply often causes visual anomolies such as you are describing.</div><div>If you have a friend who is computer savvy, have him bring his, or an extra power supply over and swap yours out. </div><div>Or, go buy one and replace yours, and test,.. if it fixes it.. Yay! If not, take it back.</div><div>Which is why I recommend 'borrowing' one, before buying.</div><div>You could also 'test' the power load out of the Moxi connectors/rails, but I get the impression you don't exactly have your electrical engineering degree. </div><div>Try what the previous poster mentioned, if no go.. Look into the power supply. </div><div>*Or* -- It might be easier to borrow another monitor from work, or a friend,.. Plug it in and see if you get the same errors.</div><div>Sort of a rule of deduction game... and how best to go about it.</div><div>Good luck,</div>
