So I just managed to buy the all in one Everquest II pack and I'm having trouble deciding on a new character. I am starting on Nagafen (PvP) because I want a challenge. So far I have created a Gnome Warlock and a Fae Templar...do those sound like good combinations? What classes are best for PvP servers or what classes or most needed?

Try a ratonga Any class you enjoy playing will do just fine... as long as you ises a ratonga! yeses Squeek! Maybe you will get more feedback on classes (for pvp) if you ask in the Nagafen forum, but I guess druids and scouts might be popular on a PvP server, maybe shamans as well. Me just a clueless ratonga on a pve server!! Oh! me almosts forgots Welcome to EQ2

The PVP servers are brutal. I would not recommend starting there if you want to experience the content of the game. Unlike other pvp mmog games (like DAOC) that add value and have a good mix of PvE and PVP, the PVP servers here don't add to the experience. Quite simply it's just a bunch of level 70s that have made alts twinked up with premium gear for that level that prey on newbies. Levels and classes don't matter - all that matters is gear and if you're new you will not be able to compete. My level 18 ranger that I started from scratch and had about the best equipment I could get through questing and not being twinked by anybody attacked a level 14 enemy and I lost big time. The level 14 had about 80% health left by the time I was dead and I even got the first back shot off with my bow. It wasn't even close. As soon as you leave the city you can expect to be jumped by newbie hunters. They turn off their experience so they can stay at a lower level and hunt newbies. This is not what a PVP/PVE balanced MMOG is supposed to be like. If you want to do the quests and experience the content of the game itself you are better off playing on a regular server. You won't be able to experience the content of the game unless you play at off hours. I played for about a month on the PVP and gave up and went to a regular server. It's a shame too because I enjoy the extra challenge of PVP and played DAOC and also EQ1 team PVP severs tallon zek but as far as EQ2 PVP it needs a lot of work.

I've never played on a PvE server and I have had just as an enjoyable experience if not better since coming to EQ2. The communities are tighter and less self-reliant. btw.. I'm a level 41.. it takes me two weeks to upgrade my suits while I harvest for the rares, and I've never aggro'd on a newbie. So, right there is one exception to your stereotype. Did you get PK'd as a child? Edited for grammar.
