Snare or Root?

I was wondering if you played this class in Solo PVP, if you could prevent people from running away easily?

if i'm not mistaken from looking at spell list, we get a root spell (imprison) at 39. i'm at 38, and i cant wait to try it out in the next couple days...... anyone know if imprison is comparable to the other classes' root spells? i have a couple rare opals for adept III spells, and i want to choose wisely as to which L30s spells to upgrade.

Inquisitors get a root+stifle and a fear+mezz. The root+stifle has a limited usefulness as its casttime is so long that mobs can make it halfway across the zone before you can cast it The fear+mezz is quite nice. First the mob is feared and runs away. When the fear wears off the mob is mezzed and hate towards the Inquisitor is lessened. It is useful to send adds away, however as with all fears you'll most likely pull more mobs using it. As far as I remember they have got a chance of about 20% to break on any attack. I wouldn't upgrade the root+stifle unless you have a lot of money to spare. There are many more important spells. Upgrades only dencrease the chance of a resist. By the way, does anybody know what happens if the fear+mezz is interrupted? Do you still get the detaunt or is this canceled too?

That's canceled too - it goes on while the mezz is happening. The root/stifle is nice for solo'ing spellcaster-type inq's who prefer to unload all their spells before the mob engages. There's just enough time after casting the root to debuff your convict, depravity and forced lines before the mob comes running screaming at you for your blood. It's also "nice" that Detain is one of the cheapest inq masters you'll find on server (at least, on AB) since not many inq's use it regularly unless they solo (like me) alot. I got mine for something like a plat, which is relatively cheap compared to other of our master spells.
