Update cancels itself ... please help

I installed the game, registered, and made my account.  I logged in and the updates started downloading.  Gets to near the end and then says "download canceled" and I cannot make a character.  What do I do?

please check out some of the other posts related to "cancelled downloads", using the search button at the top of the screen, and typing in those keywords. This can be due to a few problems, but it is usually related to your connection being too far from the server, being behind a firewall of some type, not having the ports forwarded correctly on your router, or having a limit on your downloadable data per week/month. Check those posts out, if that doesnt work, post your system specs and your DXDiag info (use the search command if you cannot figure out how to post that one as well), and we will try to see what we can do.  <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
