You should use the Gown of Glory instead of the veined membranous, the power proc plus the ward which will eat some damage from ae's is a lot more beneficial. You should get the Mystical Orb of the Invoker from the Mystical Orbs collection quest and use that instead of the drained soul husk. You should do the Draco Mortuus Vas Liberato (or something like that) HQ for the Bone-Clasped Girdle. Try to get a group together and go kill the x2 at the top of Forsaken city until you get a Necromantic Orb of the Death Reveler for your secondary, and do claymore to get Fitzpizzles Misty Protector for your ranged, or even better get some people and kill Vrakzakin in Temple of Scale every time he is up to get a Blood of the Brood Watcher. You should try to get get the Wand of Crystalized Plasma from Unrest for your weapon. As much as possible you should try to cast Iceshield, Iceshape, Frigid Gift, and if you still have time Forge of Ro before pull. As the mob is incoming cast Protoferno. Throughout combat you don't want to be casting just a certain order of spells, you want to be casting the best spell possible at the time. The first couple spells you should cast are Rending Icicles and Surging Tempest. Depending on when your brigand usually hits dispatch you will either cast another spell or two or you will cast Freehand Fusion/Ice Nova if the brig dispatchs right away, however never wait more than a few spells into combat to cast Ice Nova. The idea is to get it cast early in the fight so it will hopefully be up before the end of the fight so you can cast it again. Now I am just going to give you the list of spells, you want to cast the one closest to the top of list that is up. This is for single target. Surging Tempest Fusion Ice Nova Ball of Lava Irradiate Incapacitate Fiery Convulsions Firestorm Sunstrike Ice Flame Rending Icicles you just cast when it is about to expire. Sunstrike and Ice Flame you should never have to cast, there should always be a better spell to cast up. Also cast Iceshape/Frigid Gift as much as possible, it is a great aid to everyone elses dps as well, however, be smart about it. Don't cast Icehshape/Frigid Gift when the mob is about to die and it all goes to waste. When Iceshape/Frigid Gift wear off go ahead and cast Inferno Surge, it won't add a lot of dps but it can't hurt . You should pretty much always be grouped with a troubador, if you aren't life is going to suck. Not only will the troubador increase your dps with spell proc buffs, the deagro is basically a necessity against most tanks. For AE Encounters the same list as above applies except put Firestorm, Glacial Winds, and Electrying Flash at the top. Only cast Flash on groups of 3 or more, if there are only 2 mobs don't bother with it. I think this about covers it, but I'm pretty tired so it might not. Afterthough, Agi 4, 6, 4, 8, 2/Wis 4, 7, 4, 8, 2 and Fire/Ice for AA specs.

NP. I should save a link somewhere to the post so I don't always have to find it to link it or quote it, heh.

Two questions: 1) Is this same casting order recommended for groups when fights don't take as long?2) What is a reasonable amount of dps for a non-raiding wizard in a group? I seem to range in the 750-900 range (still higher than people I'm grouping with) but I feel I should be doing more.

Thanks alot slippery. I have tried your method and my DPS has gone up by about 150 - 250. Loads more improvement, but I think this is down to my equipment and getting the T7 spell masters. To ChodeNode1I am no way an expert, but I would not use the same casting order as sometimes the mob will be dead by the time your first offensive spell hits. I normally cast Iceshield, Rending Icicles and then freehand Nova, Ball Of Lava. If the tank holds aggro and there is a mob or 2 - 3 I would swap Nova with Fusion.I can normally hit the 800 - 900 range in a group, but I am sure I can get alot more with more gear with proc Sure a more expert Wiz will answer your question better

that dosn't matterjust press that spell which is on top of the list and up.and Rending Icicels should all the time on the moband maybe Surging tempest before Ice nova because it is a long DoT

Uhm, Ice Shield gets less and less useful depending on how good your Shaman/Tank is... when I cast mine it triggers once, maybe twice, before the duration expires.

You cannot cast anything while recovering from casting a spell, right? Therefore, it lenghtens the effective casting time of the spell for all but the last spell cast on an encounter.

In a raid you will have an opportunity to cast Iceshield multiple times - always keep an eye on it to see when it is up for recast.

No reason to recast iceshield if it is still on the tank, what dex was saying is that as the fight goes on the mob gets debuffed and will hit the tank will get hit by melee less. it is still better to cast than sunstrike is even if it only triggers once.

1K dps is pretty much meh after the fight is rolling, however precasting it is very nice, I still cast it when it is up and I feel it will do good damage aka 2 out of 3 hits with raid debuffs will hit for 1500/trigger on average. Now on AoE fights it is very nice indeed as it triggers real fast.

Missing procs on Iceshield just lowers it's overall priority in a casting queue. I find myself barely casting Iceshield at all anymore.

Fusion and Firestorm should also be on the list, and you should be basing your spells off the average from the damage when you examine the spell, not what you see on the parse for this purpose because what you see on the parse will vary highly depending on the rng and how well debuffed a mob is. For example if the encounters are only lasting 30 seconds and you cast a spell in the first 5 seconds and the last 5 seconds the mob is not going to be as debuffed as it is in the middle so will do less damage then it should compared to a spell that you cast in the middle of that period. This is my list, based on my casting haste, int, and boe for after the boe changes coming in the next GU in a few days. Also keep in mind it is considering single target and all triggers go off on Iceshield and dots tic the full duration.
