I don't think I ever recall seeing this happen to me until the last couple of updates, but it has cost me my life many times since then.

PvP is really hectic, so it's hard for me to know exactly the targetting circumstances this happens in:

1. F1: I seem to be able to heal myself in this situation. Working as intended.

2. Select Next Hostile PvP: sometimes I can heal myself and sometimes I get the "Not a Friend" msg

3. Attacked by Hostile PvP: sometimes I can heal myself and sometimes I get the "Not a Friend" msg

4. Taunted off Target by Hostile PvP: in this situation, I'm fairly sure that I can never heal myself and have to spam F1 repeatedly to retarget myself. This may be working as intended.

Has anyone got any ideas? The sometimes situations are the most troubling as I waste lots of time trying to heal before getting the "Not a Friend" msg and pressing F1. I'm most often dead when this happens.

I am pretty sure you have to be targeting yourself (F1 or macro) to heal yourself when on a hostile pvp target. It seems to me (my favorite method) that it has always been this way. To the best of my knowledge (unless it has changed), you can't change the interface to allow for self-cast while on a hostile target (like you can in WoW). If you are attacking through an implied target (say, your group's tank), both your damages and heals will go to them. You still have to F1 or group heal to heal yourself.

The spamming F1 to heal yourself while being taunted is as intended. That's what a taunt is supposed to do. (/shakefist)

If you are pvping in a group and have a hostile target, you can use group heals without targeting either yourself or a groupmate, but single direct heals (or regens..) require a friendly target.

The being able to do it sometimes and not others....I dunno.

Implied target will work through hostiles in pvp. If you are targeting a pk who is targeting you, you will heal yourself when casting a heal. If your hostile target is targeting another friend, you will heal that friend. If however, your hostile target is targeting another pk or nothing at all you will receive the no target or not a friend message. Whatever the case, you will always heal any friend you are targeting directly (thus why F1 works). When fighting 1 other person it is generally safe to heal through them to heal yourself. When fighting multiple people you generally have to spam click yourself with mouse or F1. That or of course, use group heals to heal yourself as nessessary as they do not require a target.
What I have seen in pvp is the following. I have someone in my group targeted. They die to hostile pvp . I then have to target myself in order to be able to self heal. Im talking about a two man group. I have been getting a lot of the Not a friend messages as well. There used to be a setting to check off that would automatically select healing of self if nobody is targeted. I looked for it but couldnt find it. Must have been removed. If im running solo this is not a problem. Single target heals work like they should. I was thinking this was a bug.
