Do you get any error messages when you start the game? Did you just install windows Vista before it stopped working? What have you done differently between the time it was working fine, and stopped working all togeather? Have you installed new software or hardware? That info will be very important.

I don't get any error messages when I first start the game no. The game started to crash even though before I installed Vista. As far as I know I have not installed any new hardware or software.

Here is a quick fix that we can try to use to see if you have a common Vista problem. What we will try to do here is to tell the computer, "Hey, its me! Neoooo! I own you, quit goofing around and acting like I dont own you and do what the hell I tell you to do!" First id like you to right click both the "launcher.exe" file (located in program filesSonystationlaunchpad - OR - program files (x86)Sonystationlaunchpad), and also right click the "everquest2.exe" file and go into the properties, and click the advanced tab. Under the check box "run as administrator", check that box. Then try again.

If that does not work, and you are infact the person that owns your computer, right click your C: drive, ( or the drive that holds your game Everquest 2 ), and click properties. Then go to the security tab, and click the button that says "advanced". Then click on Owner, and somewhere in that area, will be the option to "take ownership of this file/folder/drive". Hit accept, wait for the system to process, and then try the above suggestion again.

And on top of that, here are another 2 other odd questions, and these are pretty important to a rare problem with computers and electronics. 1 ) Have you had any other strange errors on your system, that are not related to EQ2? For instance, blue screens for no reason, or under system stress times. 2 ) How old is your computer? Did you build it yourself, or did someone else build it, and who is the person(s) that built it, or what company, and at what time? As another normal question that is not related to a rare system problem, do you have a virus scan on that may be interfering with your updates - and/or - are you behind a router or other information switching & routing device that may block your connection to the patch servers?

__ The first solution should work, but if not respond and ill try to help out.

Hello, I am the current owner of my computer my dad and I built it about a year or two ago. I have already tried the run as administrator before and still no success. I am however happy that you brought up strange errors on my system question. I do get blue screens of death but I don't get them when i'm playing EQ2 or SWG or even MXO. I get them when I play Microsoft Flight Simulator X but I still don't get them that often while playing that. I do have a virus scan that is currently running i'll try and disable it while I run a full scan. I am behind a router but I cannot change it due to the way my dad has his network set up.

Thanks I appreciate the help so far.

ok, well lets try to do this. In your everquest 2 folder, try to execute the file "everquest2.exe". See what happens, if anything does, and if any error messages appear, let us know what they are. More than likely, your ports are not forwarded on your router. If your dad knows what he is doing, you could ask him to look up some info on these tech forums, or the Everquest 2 FAQs, about port forwarding and routers. He should be able to set the ports for you, and if not, you may be able to figure them out from the listing. If not, let us know here, and ill try to give you a walkthrough!

Well I tried what you suggested about running the "Everquest2.exe" I managed to play about an hour before it crashed. I then ran it again and got into the game and crashed 30 sec after I got in. I did try one more thing I unplugged me so I did not go through the router at all. I still crashed about the sametime as I usually did with me plugged into the router.

What happens after you crash? Is there an error screen after you crash using the new method? Can you post a screenshot if it is? Did you try the fix for ">2Gb Addressing", located here : http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=364955 Use the instructions set by the first post from Vega, second on the page. See if your error pops up again after using that fix.

Hey there, sorry for the late reply. I was pretty busy the last few days with some famliy stuff.Sadly, that error message couldnt be less helpful, but that isnt your fault in any way <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />" width="15" height="15">. There are a few other possibilites for your error. You could have a hardware device not connected to your computer, or that does not have power, that could be causing an error when EQ2 tries to connect to it.It could also be caused by a device on your system not having the right driver. Or, it could be a corrupted file in either Everquest 2 or Vista, that is not accessing itself properly.Id like you to do a game reinstall, just to be sure. It is a big pain in the rectal area, but this will be much much easier than trying to diagnose a hardware error or a corruption error. We will try to narrow down what could be wrong with your system, and doing a full game reinstall will knock out a lot of birds with a single stone. After you do that, and before you start patching, id like you to do a system scan of your hard drive, using the scan disk program in Windows. To do this, right click the drive containing your Everquest 2 game, and click "Properties". Then click the tools tab, and click error checking. Then proceed to do a check on that systems drive, and be sure the option "auto fix errors" is checked in your options. (Sorry if I am using laymens terms here, I have a lot of people to help and I cannot keep track of who knows what <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /> Forgive me ! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /> <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /> )

After that finishes, go ahead and post any info if the program halts or when it ends, and says the information "X number of Bad sectors" or "X number of Bad clusters". After that happens, try patching the game, and see if the problem exists still. My theroy is that it should not, but it is totally possible that it will.Like I said, this procedure will be a lot easier than trying to download diagnostic software, and then trying to post message you through what to check for over the next 3 days. You can back up any custom UI stuff that you have, and copy & paste it AFTER your game patches AND you verify that your game is not running properly. This will also help us narrow down any custom UI problems, such as corrupted extra map files, or even a single bit or character that is not right in a custom keyboard settings.Remember, thats important. Dont copy & paste or install any custom UI stuff until after you patch and verify it isnt working.Ill try to be around later tonight, but if I am not ill be on tomorrow and check out your link first. I'll book mark it and try to help you out! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />Thanks,Karatta

Ok well I just reinstalled everything and I decided not to save any of my UI modifications. I ran the error-checking like you said and received no Bad Sectors or anything. I then patched the game it took about 4 hours to patch. I finally got in played for 5 min then while traveling to the docks on a griffon it crashed.
