I just moved yesterday... was having computer troubles but i got that fixed. Yet when i try to launch EQ2 from my desktop it just sits there at "preparing files." My internet works fine. I can run the .exe directly from the program files to the char select...but of course i can't get in game because i don't have all the updates more then likely. Just trying to get on and i can't figure it out.

Please post your DXDiag info, so we can further troubleshoot your issue, by clicking the "Run" command in windows and then typing "DXDiag". Click the button that says "save all information", and save the file on your desktop. Then open it up, and copy/paste the files information on the web here.

Thanks!

Sadly... whatever is screwing up my computer wont let me open text files either. I'm more then likely gonna just have to reformat this computer.

wow, that sucks man! sounds like you may have a hard drive error. Try to do run a "scan disk" on your computer, by right clicking your drive in a folder that you can view it, and clicking on properties. Then go to the "tools" tab, and click "scan for errors", or somethign to that effect in windows XP/2000 if you are running those. Wait for it to finish, and review the end information. It should tell you how many "lost clusters" or "bad clusters" were on the drive. Post the numbers it gives you for those numbers, and we can try to determine if that was the problem. IF the scan disk program doesnt finish for any reason, you may want to think about a format/reinstall like you said, or you may need to replace the hard drive all togeather. You may want to start backing up files now if that is the case.

Bounce to a command prompt and type:

SFC /Scannow

Follow the screen prompts. Have your Windows XP in the CD-Drive. Should take about 20 minutes or so.
