View Full Version : Would Bristlebane be neutral or good?

Rumor has it that Bristlebane may be making an appearance in the somewhat near future. I'm just putting a feeler out here, do we think that he is going to be good or neutral? I hadn't really thought of it before, but with halflings being strictly good from a Qeynos / Freeport perspective I may be in for a shock.

What do you all think?

He's well-established neutral. He's the god of mischief and pranks. Nothing good or evil about him...... Though he is increadibly annoying.

Just out of curiousity, is there any 'official' reasoning as to why halflings are "good"?

They've always been good natured. Just fun loving. I guess Bristlebane doesn't have much use for them to practice the dark arts.

I'm guessing Neutral; afterall, he did have a hand in creating Ratonga in addition to the Halflings.

The Bristlebane I remember from EQ didn't care whether you were good or evil only if your pockets were Pickable.

Current god counts:

Good = 3

Neutral = 2

Evil = 3

ROK god additions:

Good +1

Neutral +1

Evil +1

Total, excluding the deity coming soon

Good = 4

Neutral = 3

Evil = 4

...Yeah, Bristlebane's gonna be neutral :p He was worship-able by good and evil rogues alike in eq1 anyway.

As a ratonga, I want Caertex. I can live with Cazic(Assassin, Defiler, and Necro) and Bristlebane(Brigand and Dirge), but it is Caertex that I really want to have altars to.

I thought it was revealed that he was actually a mortal who was just worshipped as a god. And yeah, where is this information coming from about Bristlebane returning? I've been taking a break from EQ2, so I haven't heard anything about it. Personally, I'd say that Bristlebane is neutral with some slight tendencies toward good. He's really all about having fun and playing tricks, but judging from past observations, his mischief rarely takes a particularly malicious form, and iirc, he was allied with Erollisi Marr in EQ1.

He is just an extremely powerful mortal mage.As for Bristlebane, he's always been, and always will be neutral. He's a prankster and doesn't really care for the affairs of mortals very much except to pickpocket or play practical jokes on. The Halflings are good-natured, and hold no malice or spite so they align themselves w/ other races that are "good". And what's this about Bristlebane creating the Ratonga? I thought the Ratonga were Brells creations seeing as they came from the Underfoot and prefer to live underground and all that. And even though I haven't gotten that far in-game yet, I thought that was why they lead the invasion on Kaladim, b/c they believed themselves to be Brells favored and viewed Kaladim as a gift from Brell.....or something like that.

He asked Bristlebane to help modify the Ratonga so they weren't so malicious and destructive in nature. The changes that Bristlebane made in question, was that he made the Ratonga more opportunistic... Always ready to jump at the chance to earn some money, even if it is sneaky and backstabbing.

At first thought, I'd but him as nuetral, as he -is- the king of theives, but then again, his creations are considered good, and when Brell's creations were -too- good, he had Bristlebane help him out, and make them more "jovial," so I don't know. I think he should still be nuetral, but it's obvious that he seems to have a slight inclination towards good. Or maybe he simply doesn't care for the piety of those who view themselves as champions of good, or those who view themselves champions of darkness. Maybe he's more nuetral than most!

There is little reason to turn evil since he doesn't go around assassinating people, slitting their throats, etc... . Then again there's little reason he would be good since in some eyes pranks can be evil if they go too far. (Worst thing ya could do would probably be puttin hot sauce in either a darwf's or barbarians brew.)

My only question is what would Bristlebane offer as far as blessings/miracles go. Tunare has always offered up her abilities of renewal and healing with deities like Solusek Ro offering up their wisdom of firey damage.
