Newbie island crafting

Should i have all my recipes at very easy before i leave for the mainland? I was wondering if it made things easier when i hit the mainland. Right now i'm lvl 7 art. Also i saw when i'm gathering that i have a top number of 45 in all those skills. What will i have to do when i hit that number? And can someone give me a link to understanding how to use the counter skills before i kill myself. I almost did that when making armor.

Vary easy is a recipe that is about to go out date, crafting on the island don't make things any easier or harder, there is still T! harvesting and tradeskilling when you get to the city. As  for counting, you don't have a full set yet,  just your progress buttons. At this lvl you want to spam your progress buttons, but try to avoid as much durability loss as possible, at the same time counting events.
