<p>Been running around CL with my newly awesome-fied soulfire sabre which was converted to 1h. For awhile I was hitting really hard even without dps mods (aside from the sabre itself). I'm a rogue and I'm 1h-ing it.</p><p>Well, after a few high numbers... Been running around for 10 mins now. I've hit critically for 876 60 something times out of about 70 times...I'm thinking either the converted dual wield weapons have a bug of hitting for their minimum crit number CONSTANTLY, or the RNG is really just sucking hard today, heh.</p><p>(RNG = random number generator)</p><p>Edit: Also, the odds of critting for more than minimum are even lower. Way too low. Of about 30 crits, 27 of them have hit for minimum damage.</p><p>edit 2: </p><p>This trend appears to have been occurring despite wield style.</p>
are you liking it as a one hander? ive only tested the DW stuff but i think i may wanna do SoD and use it as a 1hander. ( i currently am wisdom/agility with chel draks shard)

<p>Starting to see consistancy. Now I swapped out one piece of armor, gained 12 str, and am critting for 879 over and over.</p><p>I've also now noticed that all of my crits that DON'T hit for 876 are ripostes.</p>

When you do /weapon, what is the actual max damage listed?
i had my soulfire sabre crit the same amount about 20 times in a row also...was 1239 1239 etc

<p>875 (this is with no dps mods other than the mod on soulfire itself). 876 = min crit damage. From the sound of it it appears to be getting stuck on the same numbers for people, mine just HAPPENED to get stuck on the lowest possible value...</p><p>Ugh.</p>

I also noticed that my poison was procing <i>every</i> time my auto-attack went off today on Test.

maybe it is the max ya could hit with the old dualwield that is messing up and didnt get upped? edit: its just messed and will prolly be fixed soon <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Look at the damage range of the weapon. The critical damage is the damage you would normally do times 1.3. but if the damage is LESS than the normal maximum it is raised to the normal max +1. So this creates a weighted distribution between the numbers. Using Vraskin's Club as an example, damage 1 - 404. With a critical the damage is now (1 - 404) * 1.3 or 1 - 525, but if the damage on critical it less than 405 then it is made 405. Therefore the damage range on crit is now 405-525, but with the weapon having a nearly 80% chance of hitting for 405.

It's not just on test, nor does it have anything to do with the dual wield conversion. I was (Not joking) critting consecutively over the course of an 8 hour raid for 1337 10 times as common as any other number with my 2 hander. I wouldn't have been perceptive enough to see it if it wasn't an odd number, but yes.. 9/10 melee crits were for 1337. Also minimum crit possible using my 2 hander in offensive stance..

<p>This is not happening to the exact same character on live though, even if I use my regular weapon in both cases. Test - min crit bug. Live - no bug.</p><p>I also think it's a bug when I log off for two days and come back and it's STILL happening.</p><p>I deleted Leithe and am recopying him, and hoping the bug does not persist....</p>

Just because it's not consistant between every character, doesn't mean the bug doesn't exist on both live and test.

This is how crits work, this is why you hit for the same number so often, because the number you rolled on the rng wasn't high enough to surpase the max damage +1 so was brought up to max damage +1. If you had rolled max damage on the swing you would see damage of max damage *1.3

yah. it's not a bug. you just have a really good chance to do min crit damage on a weapon with a really wide damage range. hence the repeating same number. if you had a str imbued ring and it proc'd the min number would go up, and you'd have similar chance to hit the new min damage.

It happens on every single one. Be it a Qeynos Kilij, Vilucidae Sword, Kudzu Whip, Axe of Natural Order, Clearcutter, whatever. It happens with everything.</p>

<p>Ok, it appears my character was bugged in copying somehow.</p><p>After deleting and recopying, this bug is no longer present. bad luck. rng hates you. someone in SOE set you up. may as well blame those. cause the first one is most likely. if you have a 75 - 80% chance to hit the min damage on a weapon, you're gonna see the same number popping up alot. if you were using ACT or whatever, sorting by crits, you'd probably notice the range

<p>lol. Once again you're assuming I'm wrong, when I'm not. I had my combat window open and I was watching. The only thing that didn't hit for min damage was when a riposte or parry preceeded it, or when I double attacked :p</p><p>Moot point now though, recopying fixed it.</p>

This is cause of how crits are handled: damage = rolled damage x 1.3 if this is less then max. damage damage is max. damage + 1. so if the max. damage of your weapon is 875 you will see a lot of 876, if the weapon has a high damage range. (e.g. 1-875)

Wow, learn to read. It is not a bug. Uilamin spelled it out for you guys in a post above. I will say it once again, incase the people who posted after Uilamin, have trouble scrolling up to read his post... Vrak club has a damage range of 1 to 404. A normal hit with a Vrak club will hit for between 1 to 404 damage (without DPS mods and mit checks being factored in). A crit hit with a Vrak club will still do a 1-404 roll, then add 30% to the result. However, in the event that adding the 30% does not make the hit harder than the weapons normal hardest hit (404), it will over ride and deal the weapons max damage + 1 (being 405 for a Vrak club). So in the situation of weapons with high damage spreads, eg: vrak club, blackscale maul, soulfire weapons, GBH and so on, you have roughly a 70% chance of hitting for the same damage every swing, unless other influencing factors change (ie: your str or dps mod) Uilamin was accurate in what he said. It is not a bug. The "RNG" works fine for melee hits.

Don't worry Cocytus, at least I actually read your post. Yes you will get lots of min crit hits and I think you know this. No need for everyone to try to spell it out 20 times. I am glad your issue with seeing the min far more often then it should be (which is what this whole post was about) got sorted out when you recopied your char. Thank you for bringing up what could have been a real concern even though it turned out to just be a char transfer bug.

Yup. I think it had to do with the fact that when I did /testcopy I had a dual wield weapon in my main hand and nothing in my offhand. I was standing in QH looking sexy with my pre-change Soulfire Sabre :p
