ok did a DT run last night...just like every other week or so, except that i was getting aggro like mad. No new uber gear or whatnot. So i kept changing my spell order around to figure out what ws going on. The other warlock in raid was also ending up face down a lot too. We both seem to think that Pillaging was getting us aggro. Never had any issues with this spell before..other than its pretty lame.

So, i guess first question is...does anyone else even use this spell lol and did anyone else notice an aggro change last night ???

The spell isn't aggro free as I understand it but it shouldn't be on the level aggro as say Apoc... Are you getting agrro as soon as you cast it... 2 tics in? How early was it being casted, it's a green spell so the tank still needs a hold on the off mobs or we still get aggro.

Well group make up was basically same as always...typical caster dps group w/ 2 warlocks, fury, coecer, troub and brigand. Mobs were typical DT groups of 2-3 but even aggroed a few solo mobs. Normally don't hit pillaging until after my first string of 10 spells, but like i said, i was changing around order of spells to try and pinpoint problem. Aggro was coming in shortly after casting it. We did have a MT change.....Guard instead of normal Zerker ( and i have a 70 zerker so i know they are better at encounter aggro ). But i was 2 boxing a healer, and would often not join in the fight with warlock until at least 10 sec had gone by. On one Worms encounter as my final test, i did my initial 10 sec of healing duties then casted Pillaging as my first and only spell....2 sec later i was dead. [Removed for Content] Didn't use it the rest of the night

From my experience this spell has always been one of our higher aggro spells. Growing up I remember learning to never cast this spell to early if I'd cast any ae spells. In fact I moved it off my 2 primary hotbars so I don't cast it as often. Now I only cast it late in a battle when my group needs the power.

Maybe they broke it in a prior patch & recently fixed it?

The mana return for this doesn't help you unless adept 3... recommend going master if you use it alot.

As for the aggro since last patch... I've felt alot more lately. I have changed my AA specs around since getting 100 & that may part of the problem.

This spell has had high aggro since it was introduced / changed. On an aside, it was particularly bad when combined with Devastation, when Dev. still had its attached stun at termination. A sure way to pull aggro would be to cast Pillaging and then follow with Dev. + stun --> triple aggro. I could peel from an Amended Pally no problem. Well they've since removed the stun entirely from the Devastation line (booooo) but Pillaging still has a lot of hate attached. All power siphons do. If you play an Illusionist you learn that pretty quick. Stuns + siphoning + damage = almost impossible to not gain aggro.
