Im new to the game, but I always like to play the advanced and tricky version of melee classes, which in this game seems to be the scouts. I also like to solo, but ofcourse grouping/raiding is also important.

With this in mind, Brigand and Swachbuckler seems to suit me (I hope), but I cant decide which of them to level up. I have both to level 10 and so far the differences arent that great, but what happens later?

For example, the AoE attack my swashbuckler has is pretty useless (bad damage, long cooldown), but will it get better? Will the swachbuckler handle more mobs better than the brigand. And what about tough single mobs (herotic)? Grinding? Solo questing?

Swashies are drop-dead sexeh, Brigands are not.

in the end game.. Go get in a raid and find a 3 mob encounter. get 150 haste and use inspiration and auto attack and watfch the numbers fly Both classes are debuffs and respectable DPS, but a brigand realy shines on single targets when swashys are more aoe. Soloing brigands rely heavily on there stuns they get to quickly kill stuff.

...lol....I agree with Flaye.....The most basic difference is Swashbucklers are just so drop-dead gorgeous they outshine everyone else!

The person to ask for a direct comparison would be Cocytus, as he has a lvl 70 swashy and a lvl 70 brigand.

Biggest differences...

1. Swashbuckler = Sexy. Brigands = less sexy.

2. Swashbuckler = More Auto attack based dps. Brigands = More Combat art based DPS.

3. Swashbuckler = More AE based dps. Brigands = More single target based dps.

4. Swashbuckler = More offensive based debuffs. Brigands = more defensive based debuffs.

5. Swashbuckler = Hat of Infinite Awesomeness.. Brigand = Hat of the Mentally Challenged. (dangPC filter)

The two AoE attacks are my most favorite attacks in the entire line. They dont do the most of my damage, but they definitely spike me right up there past the wizard on most group parsings I have done. Especially when we are surrounded by more than two heroics. In the last few levels no one has been able to outparse me, unless I'm slackin and don't need to do the massive damage for my group to succeed.

I am very new to the game and solo alot. I am trying to avoid clothies (most of my WoW toons are clothies) and have tried an Assassin and Dirge and I am currently playing around with a SK.So far I solo most effectively with the SK.How does a Swashie compare? I am mostly talking low level since my highest toon is a whopping 21 (AS and SK) and I am in no hurry to reach raiding levels. But the idea of a Froglok Swashie named Ribbitero is just to fun (I see I am not alone Rippitt).

In essence,

The Brig debuffs the mobs defence so that everybody knocks the crap outta the mob much easier. Dispatch/debilitate, etc. They are monsters at single targets. They can stunlock singles and effectively solo them. They typically smell worse than a swash though.

The swash debuffs the offence of the mob so it is very favorable for the tank/healer. They have great aoe's and are effective on multiple mob encounters. They typically require maintenance in the form of regular hair-gel applications.

Both have their advantages and are desirable at all levels for various purposes.
