View Full Version : Equipment misinformation?

I just was browsing around the eq2 main page and took a look at their equipment section. Now, maybe some of it is old information because with the old archetype/class/subclass system the ability to use armor was gained as one progressed, or maybe it is a preview of something yet to come. However, as is, the site is full of misinformation.

Some quotes I found misleading under the amor section of equipment:

Chain - "... Primarily used by Fighters, Priests, and Rangers."

Leather - "... Primarily used by Rogues and their classes/subclasses."

Woven - "... Primarily used by Brawlers, Monks, and Assassins."

Chain is primarily used by fighters? I mean they "can" use it, but certainly don't primarily use it. Then they list chain primarily used by Rangers? I mean thats true, but incredibly misleading. The form was achetype (fighter), archetype (priest), and subclass (ranger). Scout would have been so much more appropriate. Leather used by Rogues and their classes/subclasses? Rogue is a class, how do you have a class within a class? I think they meant scout there. And again, they "can" use leather, but certainly don't primarily use it as they can use chain. And then we move to the woven description. First, woven isn't a "type" of armor, all the other headings: chain, leather, plate, and cloth are actually armor types. Second, monk is a subclass of the brawler class. Doesn't this odd example seem to mislead? And of course again, assassins, a subclass, "can" use lower classes of armor, but they don't primarily use them.

Under the ranged weapons section of equipment I also found them listing crossbows, two different types in fact. Which, unless I'm mistaken and there are some non-crafted crossbows, do not exist in the game.

I'm not trying to complain or rant. I just want to point these things out in the hopes that maybe they might be cleaned up. I personally really enjoy eq2 and try to encourage my friends to join, but little things like that are what drive people away. I mean, I always try to read up and learn as much as I can when I'm new to an MMO, but when the information is presented to you incorrectly or is at best misleading it just adds frustration. And the lack of attention to detail on such a simple level as the basic introduction to perspective players is really a bad sign.
