In Nerik I heard some guy mumbling about this, what is it and why does he says "some may not be as they appear"?.

The Ewer of Sul'Dae is the focus of the Peacock questline in Desert of Flames. it's a basin that provides water that grants eternal life through undeath. We, the adventurers, destroyed it, but the D'Morte vampired managed to recreate it in Neriak.

As far as I know, we the adventurers destroyed the Ewer and it seems it was rebuilt in Neriak. However, what I never got and what I'm not so sure about is who exactly rebuilt it. The D'Morte house in Neriak still exists, but it is inhabited by another family. As a matter of fact the D'Morte family seems to have been kicked from Neriak.

Maybe I missed an important piece here, but do we really know for sure it was rebuilt by D'Morte or maybe not by someone else with even more sinister motives?

hmm. Good point. My bad. Nevermind the D'Morte part.

Hey wait a sec, I think Vhalen commented on this back when Neriak opened up. The vampires there are permitted to live in Neriak at the cost of being Queen Christanos' test subjects whenever she wants.

However, I think somewhere Vhalen did indeed post something along these lines. What I found though was a lot of posts about the D'Morte family, including a hint that they seem to have a castle in a frosty and icey place. So might be Everfrost, Velious or whatever. In any regard they were hunted down by the The Dead and certainly not at home in Neriak anymore.

On a side note: Even more intruiging seems the fact that, while we all agree that their ascension to Vampirism has something to do with the Ewer, Vhalen stated several times that them becoming what they are now has some connection to Mayong.

In any case, Vampirism for sure has its tie-ins with Neriak and her Queen.
