Emperor Vekin

A community member brought this up on the Archive's Forums, and wanted the inquiry to be shared with others as... well, there just isn't a whole lot of info on this really important NPC. "<i>Basically I'd like to know if anyone has found any information on Emperor Vekin--like, at all.  We see his name dropped a few times in EQ1, and the Maps of Myrist tells us that he has a grand palace in the middle of the city (which is not there in game).  Other than that, almost nothing has ever been said about him.  Who is he? What caste does he belong to? Where did he come from? Was he the one to retake Cabilis and found New Sebilis, or has the new Empire had more than one Emperor so far? Is he at all connected to the Sathir line, of which the last one we knew was Chottal? What is his attitude towards the world outside Cabilis, and what are his plans for Kunark? How does he regard Venril Sathir? Will the world ever see him or his palace, and why has it been so far removed from players' eyes? Is Prime Hierophant Vek meant to be Vekin? Etcetera, Etcetera, Etcetera.  I'd love it if a developer had anything to say about this very important, but totally unseen character</i> ." Anyone have any good bits of info on this faceless leader?

Sorry, if servers weren't coming down in EQ1 atm I would log back in and check the Cabilis news papers, they seem to mention him a bit. But what I can remember is that he is a horrible emperor. I think he is pretty close with the Warrior's guild I doubt he was the one to retake Cabilis, he sits in his palace all day and likes to raise funds to build onto it while the rest of the city is in decay. I think he cares very little of the out side world, in the war events that took place around the time of Grobb being retaken from the frogs, Cabilis did take notice just because they feared it may interfere with caravans to the portal to fear in Feerrot. The current EQ1 Cabilis Iksar empire's rulers are supposedly very much against Venril Sathir. I think Sathir's line ended with Trakanon's raid of Sebilis. Again this is just stuff off the top of my head that I can remember. I'll try and find some in game info to back it up tomorrow.

The particular military unit that his tribe spawned from was said to be very sadistic and they were known for gruesome acts of torture. </p><p>Was he the one to retake Cabilis and found New Sebilis, or has the new Empire had more than one Emperor so far? </p><p>VH: Cabilis, a former iksar city, was captured by Emperor Vekin's legion and declared the capital of the Cabilisian Empire. He resided within Vekin Palace, a grand structure within Cabilis. This palace was like no other. Inside one could not only find the opulent chambers of the Emperor, but also a vast underground dungeon. Vekin enjoyed the art of torture and made it a part of his everyday life. </p><p>Is he at all connected to the Sathir line, of which the last one we knew was Chottal? </p><p>VH: Vekin has no Sathir blood flowing in his veins. </p><p>What is his attitude towards the world outside Cabilis, and what are his plans for Kunark? </p><p>VH: Emperor Vekin wanted the iksar to return to glory. Building his legions and claiming Cabilis were his first big steps. What came after that has yet to be discovered. </p><p>How does he regard Venril Sathir? </p><p>VH: Emperor Vekin does not look favorably upon the resurrected Venril Sathir. He and many other iksar saw Venril's return as a threat to the rise of a new empire. The new armies being formed by Venril were not merely iksar soldiers, but also of a supernatural and often undead nature. The Cabilisian Empire and Venril Sathir would be destined to come in direct conflict. What came after that conflict cannot be known until you set foot upon the rediscovered continent of Kunark in the Age of Destiny.</p>

Woah, I was not expecting him to be a... competent ruler.  I always assumed he was some sort of figure head, like the Caliph of Coin.  Fascinating.

Update to an old post.. Fallen Emperor Vekin is located in the new Sebilis Crypt Instance as the final boss.

the fallen emperor is in a sebilis crpyt. is he undead, or just imprisoned there?Venril Sathir strikes me as the kind that would have marched into Cabilis or Sebilis in force. have we found anything out yet that might lead one to the conclusion of a grand scale war and conquest?we've heard rumor that the Swift tail caste, while they are part of the Sathirian Empire on the whole, apparently are not as closely aligned as you might think...is there anything to support that they are Vekin's last real supporters, provided he's not just an undead puppet?

The particular military unit that his tribe spawned from was said to be very sadistic and they were known for gruesome acts of torture. </p><p>----------------------------------------------------------------------------</p><p>Question if you (or anyone) can Verify.  There is/was in one of the Cabilis areas near the necromaners an Iksar Monk named Sartar(SP?) in EQ1 that I belive was tied to the Halls of Glory or something (My Memory is very Hazy).  Something always bothered me about the tale he tells as he spoke of it taking place before the empire and since there were no Iksar Monks before Tynn and Tynn came during the early days of the Sathir Empire I wrote it off as lies.  But I never considered it was the Cabilisian Empire he was referring to.  Are you familier with this at all?  I would just like confirmation if you could!  Sartar never speaks of it in Feerot where he is part of the Flowing Black Sash HQ.</p></blockquote>
