I have recently come from WoW in search for a more hardcore game, and when i played WoW the most over-populated classes were rogues and shaman and somtimes mages depending on the server, now for EQ2, I want to play a class that is not over populated, like for instance if you walk through a city and see like 500 shadow knights (just an example i dont know how populated SK's are). I also want to play a class that is very useful in groups, liek if you play a priest in WoW, you have people sending you tells asking for help in an instance/dungeon. I'm not sure if I want to play a caster, i played the play the fae trial as a warden t lvl 4 for a couple hours and didn't like it too much but if casters are needed that's what I'll be.

Also looking for a class taht could somewhat solo if I couldnt find a group for the day, and if possible could pvp well. Thank you in advance

EDIT Oh and i dont play the trial anymore, i now have the actual game, so i can play as most any class/race

Azuremyst wrote:
hmm pvp, because i would like to ahev that option, so yes, pvp
well, the most common classes played on pvp are rogues and druids. you see them all over the place. what kind of classes do you enjoy to play? Melee dps, tanks, pure buff bots, healers? Most classes are wanted for groups in eq2. Raiding is a bit different. Most important thing is to pick a class you'll enjoy.

deffinately not buff bot, healing is ok and dps and i liek tanking too, so i liek the 2 main support classes, ehalign and tanking, but there's many classes in EQ2 from waht i see, so i want either a DPS/healing or a DPS/tanking

now that i think about it, whats the difference between a monk and a bruiser? and are assasins more like naruto style or are the just warriors that duel weild like in WoW?

Assasins are a scout class. Lots of classes are "paired" up and one is usually more offensive and the other is more defensive. Monks are a bit more defensive, while Bruisers are more offensive. Both are fun classes but neither are wanted for their tanking ability (little to no taunts) and their DPS is too low to be a real dps class so not very wanted in general. I would suggest Berserker or Shadow Knight for DPS oriented Tanks. For Priests, DPS Priests are Wardens/Furies with Furies generally overflowing with numbers on most servers.

ok, so are assasins like naruto style? i.e. extremelty quick and agile, and high dodge rate, etc.

They wear chain armor so not a dodge class like a monk/bruiser.

since its your first trip to eq2 pvp server you should just roll one of the 4 types of scout classes for two reasons..

1. stealth

2. tracking

These two things will help you in many ways while leveling up especially on a pvp server. i returned recently and rerolled an inquisitor and ive put so much work in him i dont want to reroll but strongly wish i would have rolled a scout. The stealth will help you in pvp and while harvesting also while exploring for AA among all the other stuff. Tracking so when you do want to pvp...you can track other players and look for solo's if you wish to gank/gain faction.

Grouping in pvp in eq2 is very beneficial but not everyone has a group to run with 24/7. Im a healer and i have major trouble finding groups at times at lvl 22 while level locked. If you refuse to roll a scout i strongly suggest you skip the low level pvp headache. Its extremely expensive to be successfull. good luck.

In my opinion, don't worry about the population of the class... Your not a clone of them, you can have an entire different focus in the game. Be what class you think is fun.

As for being useful in groups.. I'm just returning to EQ2 from a year brake with only two characters left, so I'm not that profecient with that whole thing.

Happy hunting.

They can hold their own in solo PvP and are the 2nd best 'tank'. If you want a blend of tanking/healing look into Shadowknight. SKs are a step down from a pure 'tank' (less taunts), but better solo PvP IMO. SKs are fairly common though.

On the healing side, most people pick the druids(fury/warden) for their quick heals. Clerics(inqs/templars) heal slow and interupted easily. Shaman fair better but can be difficult to play, especially at lower levels.

I'd recommend a Brigand as your first character on a pvp server. You get alot of debuffs, great damage and can tank most groups. As it was said earlier tracking and stealth will help you immensely and lastly they're alot of fun.
