I've recently started playing a Fury because I wanted to play a healer, but I'm rather discouraged with how hard it will be to get groups and into raids because of how popular they are, so I'm considering a Templar. Is it easier to get on raids as a templar, or are they too popular also?

I'm also having trouble with Templar race. I've narrowed it to Fae or High Elf. But with the glide and run speed of the Fae, it seems like there is no point of starting up a new character these days and not playing a Fae. Is there any practical reason to take High Elf over Fae?

Thanks

I can give you my opinion as I did have a level 70 Templar.

1. It can get a bit hard to grab some groups as a Templar, only because many people see Wards as better that your straight up heals and retro shielding. But don't give up!

2. Templars are NOT soloers. Now mine was back in the day when they still had weapon restrictions on the AA lines, but now is different. Choose an AA line that will complement what you wish your Templar to do. I have tried looking for a page with all the AA list for the Templar but no luck there, sorry

3. Plate is great. Protection = awesome! I found worry about MIT at your lower levels and when yous olo, and statwise armor when you get to grouping more and raids in later levels. Also, I suggest 1H crushing and a shield/censor. They have some nice WIS stats on them.

4. Your money will be always going into upgrading your healing spells. At 70 I was doing heal crits over 2500 which is great. And along with the retroshields (which heal a character when a mob damages them) the healing can top alot more.

Hope this helps. Above all, I stress again don't give up!

Ah forgot to add to your race question. Hm ... it's really down to what racial abilities you want than anything else. Look here: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=308 This is a list of the abilities for all the races (hopefully updated hehe) I would just base more on racewise from these than anything else as you cna easily make up for stat loss through equipment.
